I've seen one of these, two years ago, hanging out on the bank of a retention pond in Punta Gorda.

It's not an active concern in my community. We're worried about gators and black widow spiders

Unless you still use an outhouse, you have to actually try to get bitten by a black widow.

This, for the most part.  Black/brown widows that I find outside or in the garage get left alone.  Widows inside the house get relocated.  Sac spiders die with extreme prejudice, though.  They'll bite you because fark you, that's why.
