2004-12-10 03:50:30 PM
You all say hi to Abe Froman the Sausage King for me, mmmmkay ?
2004-12-10 03:50:35 PM
rough, scheduling it the same night as tucker max's party. decisions, decisions.
2004-12-10 03:51:50 PM
Aah... as a Seattle girl who has been to Jak's many a time, I wish I could fly in...
2004-12-10 03:52:01 PM
Sure wish I could be there. Unfortunately I won't be home for another week yet. :[
2004-12-10 03:56:15 PM
There's been a request for a quick headcount - if there is a greater than 50% chance that you're going to hit Jak's, respond with an "Abe Froman."

I have one Abe Froman, and another Abe Froman for Mr. Mandrax.
2004-12-10 03:57:53 PM
Dammit, I'd be there if I weren't planning on getting plowed in DeKalb tonight...

Son of a biatch! Of all the nights to have a fark party in Chicago. I've got some dumbass secret-Santa thing that I have to go to.

How often do Chicago Fark parties happen?
2004-12-10 04:00:09 PM
kippson: your secret santa wants you to go to this party instead.
2004-12-10 04:02:06 PM
too bad that i just got my wisdom teeth out, otherwise i'd go. the combination of vicodin, alcohol, and chipmunk cheeks sounds pretty deadly.
2004-12-10 04:02:09 PM
Forget about Jaks Tap, I'll be at The Village Tap, the much cooler sister bar.
2004-12-10 04:05:44 PM
I'd be there in a heartbeat if one of you guys would be so kind as to fly me up from Houston. :-(

damn, dinner plans made last week, going to miss it.

Any northsiders want to set up another Fark party soon?
2004-12-10 04:09:13 PM
Abe Frontman

But first, margaritas @ Sears Tower.

You're thinking about going to a party thrown by a "writer" who can't write a story if it doesn't involve booze or himself? Just bring the guy over to the Tap and we'll give him some "stories" to write....

muahahahaha *tents fingers*

Someone from Seattle frequents this Jak's place, yet I've never heard of it.. hmmm. Bah.. its west loop. I moved out of that area (Presidential Towers) cuz nothing was going on there except for the once a year block party and a couple decent restaurants on Randolph. Village Tap is a nice place though.. and a heck of a lot more convenient too.

A FARK party in Chicago and it isn't at Sheffield's, the land of a hundred beers? Tsk.
2004-12-10 04:12:12 PM
Space Dog: It's not the West Loop that s*cks, it's Presidential Towers.
2004-12-10 04:12:19 PM
Lets change it to the Village Tap!
2004-12-10 04:13:03 PM
There is a $25 all you can drink at McGees from 8-11 tonight
2004-12-10 04:13:38 PM
Nightsweat: What, there's not one beer in 40 you're willing to drink?
2004-12-10 04:15:41 PM
Just moved to Chicago, would love to make it. It would be the one day I left my camera at my hotel and didn't take it into work with me. Ahh well, I need a shower and a shave first anyway...
2004-12-10 04:17:53 PM
So are these fark parties worth going to or are they usually like I would expect them to be?
2004-12-10 04:17:53 PM
I'll be there. What time is everyone thinking of showing up? I work in the Loop, so I'm just gonna hang around here before hopping the train.
2004-12-10 04:18:26 PM
Abe Froeman, after I see Blade 3, if I'm not too tired.
2004-12-10 04:19:10 PM
And oh, yeah, Abe Foreman.
2004-12-10 04:20:12 PM
otakgurrl: Not entirely sure....I think people are generally showing up between 6 and 8? Anyone else care to chime in?
2004-12-10 04:21:28 PM
For the uninitiated, Jak's Tap is in the West Loop somewhere, so don't confuse it with the much cooler Jake's on Clark street
, or the yuppie joint, Jack's Bar and Grill on Southport, or the restaraunt Jack's on Halsted.

I once set up a date with a girl at "Jack's" and was sitting at Jake's for 3 hours getting shiathouse drunk, only to go home to 6 messages of her getting angrier and angrier at me as the evening went on and she was sitting at Jack's for those same 3 hours also getting shiathouse drunk.

Needless to say she never forgave me the misunderstanding, not that I would have gone out with her again anyway based on how psycho she gets when she drinks.

2004-12-10 04:21:49 PM
Sheffield's?????? Um, I don't know if that area and farkers would mix very well. OR maybe it would, what do I know??

I will be there and I will be dressed as Abe Froman, sausage king of Chicago. Will there be a sign?? Farkers are a shy bunch and don't approach new people well.
2004-12-10 04:22:05 PM
Sweet, Mandrax. I'll be the short-haired girl at the bar wearing a Pixies shirt and reading H.G. Wells.
2004-12-10 04:22:20 PM
If I did not have a tort final on Monday i would go, i only live a few blocks away. I have never heard of that place, then again i just moved here and I have not gone out in months.
2004-12-10 04:22:44 PM

There is a $25 all you can drink at McGees from 8-11 tonight

Do they have that every Friday? Where is McGees?
2004-12-10 04:23:01 PM

You got it. I suppose you could have a Goose Island for me. :-)
2004-12-10 04:25:05 PM
actually, will people still be there after 10? how late are people staying?
2004-12-10 04:25:23 PM
otak: Heh. I will be the other girl with the Pixies shirt and short dark hair.
2004-12-10 04:26:10 PM
Er, dammit, Abe FROMAN! I need a beer, can't ya tell?
2004-12-10 04:26:16 PM

no, my friend is throwing it, its for some charity - I don't have all the details but everyone is invited. McGees is in Lincoln Park not sure of the address I think around Linconl and Armitage

2004-12-10 04:28:31 PM
activejester: Ok, so you don't want to go to Jak's. But why would you want to go to Village Tap if there's such a good deal to be had at McGee's?
2004-12-10 04:28:53 PM
trinkau1, I'm thinking of staying till at the latest 11. I have the damned second job to go to in the morning and I'm still a bit shredded from 80's night at Neo last night.
2004-12-10 04:30:32 PM

I used to live above the Village Tap, so the deals are just as good there for me, but Im not opposed to Jaks Tap - McGees might have too many LPT's and fans of LPT's
2004-12-10 04:31:29 PM
Couldn't find a babysitter. I'll drink from home in your honor after the rugrats crash.
2004-12-10 04:32:10 PM
activejester: Jak's is happily LPT free. There's the cousin species, the WLT, but only enough of them to provide some entertainment.
2004-12-10 04:32:52 PM
there was an article about the Dallas Fark Party in the Dallas Observer.. well done!
2004-12-10 04:33:20 PM
otakugrrl69: well i guess ill have to see how much work i can get done in time, one beer might be a possiblity
2004-12-10 04:35:01 PM

there are West Loop Trixies?
2004-12-10 04:35:17 PM
I'll be there, probably the only SouthSider as well!

*Moving back North in Feb.
