That and Peart playing the drumbeat of life are the two things that have stuck with me ever since seeing it. So stupid it's brilliant.

First movie convinced me I can only take ATHF in 15 minute segments. Hilarious but like Marmite. A little goes a long way.

NSFW.
ATHF released a bunch of short videos a few months ago. Merlo and the Broodwich's return were good, but I always enjoyed the absurd Cybernetic Ghost of Christmas Past From the Future brought.

Yeah, their type of humor only really works in short segments.  Trying to stretch it into a full length movie just didn't work.  That intro was 10 kinds of awesome though.

Absolutely loved the first one.  Seems hard to top, though.

This gives me hope that the Venture Bros movie wont end up joining Batgirl and the others in the mass grave at Warner Bros.

/ mass grave at Warner Bros or mass grave that is Warner Bros?
// not much hope, but a little

The ATHF movie was a party event if you caught it with the right crowd. It felt like the last hurrah of the midnight movie, even more so because it felt like something that shouldn't exist, and definitely shouldn't have gotten a theatrical release.

I loved that they showed the first one for free on Comedy Central before it came out in theaters. Granted, it was in a small window in the corner and had no sound, but they didn't lie about doing it.

I love ATHF, watch hardly any TV-but seen every episode numerous times. Before Twitch was Twitch it was Justin tv and I watched the 24/7 ATHF channel way too much and had it on in the background of Civ 4 marathons. Theme was stuck in my head often...you want a trip, I'll bring it to ya.

I just want to point out this is a direct to video/blu ray movie.

SOOOOOO no idea if I'll see it. I did enjoy the original series for being so incredibly random but I did the first movie in theaters and yeah it was way too long. The problem with absurdist humor is it might not be able to keep a long functioning coherent plot as everything is being random. Though from the trailer maybe they got that feedback and worked on that?

Finally a trailer that makes me want to see the movie. It's been years since that happened

It will stream on HBO Max as well.

Also, the first movie was pretty much a one or two weekend showing at a handul of theaters.

Friend and I made a trip to Kalamazoo to visit our friend going to Western at the time so we could all see it at the theater since it was the only theater it was showing it that we could find in MI. My buddy brought a bunch of joints, brownies, and other baggies for the weekend. I've always been more of a drinker so went on a short booze run. By the time we got back our friend we were staying with had hid all the damn weed, in any form, all over the house from being high as hell and paranoid. In separate cups, dish bowls, couch, every damn place. Took us a good while to hunt it all down.

Anyways. That was a fantastic showing from start til end and worth the trip. The crowd was great since we were pretty much all lit in one way or another. Great group experience for fans of the show.

there was a time I loved ATHF but as I have grown old I just don't. same for South Park and I have never watched Rick and Morty. there is a certain mindset needed to appreciate that which I no longer possess. the failing is mine.

Chucknasty,

I hate how that seems to be happening to everyone I know as we get deeper into our forties.  Me, my brain seems to be remaining eternally juvenile.  Gimme ATHF, Star Wars, Batman, and Marvel!

I could understand trading up for some haute couture or whatever, like if all you want to do is read fine literature and watch Better Call Saul, that I get.  But trading popcorn geek entertainment for... I dunno, nothing?  Seems depressing to me.
