there are easy FCS teams to get your season started and then there are season-wrecking FCS teams, like ND State, SD State and a couple others.   You have nothing to gain by scheduling them.   They won't even count toward bowl eligibility, IIRC.

On one end of the spectrum we have this game aaannnd on the other end we have the North Carolina/Appalachian State game where there was a total of 124 points scored. And of that 124 points, 62 of them were scored in the fourth quarter.

Welcome to college football everyone! :)

If nothing else, that might help tamp down on Iowa fans talking shiat all week before the Iowa State game. As an Iowa State fan, I know better than to get cocky, but Iowa definitely looked like shiat yesterday.

college kickers generally suck, but this time, Iowa's punter did all the work himself.

You know who else put up two safeties in a game?

Fred Dryer.

Well, some credit also goes to the guys downing the ball, but yeah, only two punts were not touchbacks.  The rest pinned SDS inside the 15.

Even the announcers were starting with the baseball game jokes midway through the third quarter.

My grandfather was an assistant coach at Northwestern in 1925, when they beat Michigan 3-2. The game was played in a foot of water. Northwestern kicked an early field goal, then held the ball late in the game and took a safety. The rule at that time was if you took a safety you kept possession of the ball afterwards. This caused an uproar, and they changed the rule to having to kick the ball away after a safety starting the next year.

Two safeties and a field goal shall forevermore be known as an Iowa Touchdown.
