You'd think that a place called "Cathedral City" would have enough crucifixes erected to keep the vampires at bay

No one cared who I was until I put on the mask and told them about our lord and savior.

But it is the batgirl reboot we deserve.

"Cat City" is basically Palm Springs.

Good luck finding religious icons in one of America's greatest gay meccas

If you wake up with a bat in your room you're supposed to assume you've been bit. If there's any ambiguity, you're supposed to assume you've been bit.

When animal services arrived to her home, they said they found the bat inside the bathroom.

Well, they found A bat.

Unless she can describe it in detail, I don't know if I'd be secure in saying it was the  bat.

The bat was quickly captured. The woman's condition is unknown.

And so it begins.

And the altar boys were all moaning.

Did they check her belfry?
She could have more in there.
Would drive me nuts.

I have had pet rats, mice, hamsters, chinchillas, guinea pigs and ferrets. So a bat would be so cool, but I know they are too wild and need to fly.

/Hamsters are mostly assholes, don't get them.
//Get a rat or guinea pig, or if more adventurous a Ferret.

Yup. That's what the CDC says. Of course, if you tell people that you woke up with a bat in your room and now you might need rabies shots, they think you're crazy. But that's what the recommendation is, and you don't want rabies, so...

It happened to a friend of ours. She checked the intertubes for Best Practice and went to the ER. The ER doctor scoffed at her reaction then -- apparently -- checked the intertubes himself. Woops. Best Practice = Get the shots.

She said she thought it was her dog at first but then noticed the bat flying away.

How small is her dog?

I imagine  Cathedral City is like the British equivalent of Metropolis, Gotham City or Arkham. Only with Dracula, Chthulu and other old timey monsters. It's been very Noir since the City Fathers killed the mafia garlic monopoly.

Does odorless garlic protect you against vampires? Research needed for anyone who wants to revive the garlic industry.

And I should not neglect to mention The Batman versus Dracula.
