I'll have to trust you as to what that tastes like.

Nah, NFL players have their Adderall situation on lockdown. Every time you see a trainer on the sidelines with a player-specific water bottle they are dosing them to keep them pumped up for the entire game. It's been like that since at least 2012.

Do they have defibrillators on the sidelines as well?

Fast Twitch is a horrible name.

Oh, so it's caffeine that make football players so hyped up. Now I understand. Thanks for the info.

Lamar Jackson will be taking more bathroom breaks.

For comparison, a 12-ounce can of Red Bull has nearly half as much caffeine but 37 grams of sugar.

It's going to have HFCS isn't it?

That sounds like an absolutely terrible idea. Gatorade is supposed to be a hydration tool, and caffeine does the exact opposite.

Sounds like a symptom of a stroke.
Seriously, caffeine plus intense exercise doesn't seem like a good combination.

Especially for college kids that mix alcohol with Gatorade, this will end up being like a homemade version of Four Loko. Might as well throw in some bath salts for the lulz

I once drank five 5-hr energy drinks in 24 hours.  I was technically dead for one hour.

So less than a cup of coffee.

200 mg, scratch that. Probably not the best idea.

It's also already taken by a pre-workout/energy drink - did Gatorade buy them out?

Lol. I don't drink caffeine at all, maybe less than two instances a year. Whenever I drink a 5-hr energy drink for late night barhopping with friends, it lasts for 8-hrs.

I mean, if your strategy is to sell more Gatorade, this is brilliant.

So is Muscle Milk. Dumber names have survived, and continue to survive.

I think it was football first, then hockey, when I noticed the ammonia smelling capsules. TV doesn't show it much, but if you know, you see it. Then I learned about Russian gas. That sounds like some crazy stuff.

Jolt Cola tasted like ass, but as a kid I could go to the corner store and by a bottle... and play Shinobi the arcade game for hours.

"Anuj Bhasin, general manager of Gatorade, said roughly 32 million consumers reject the energy drink category for the negative health effects. Fast Twitch aims to attract those consumers, offering plenty of caffeine but no sugar or carbonation."

Its not the fizzy sugar water.  I know plenty of people who have a Pepsi or Coke instead of a cup of coffee in the morning.  Flat, sugar free energy drinks like 5-hour also sell well.  People didn't switch to 4 Loko when it came out because they were looking for a new sugar-free alternative for caffeine.

The negative health effects that makes individuals reject energy drinks is the ridiculous amount of caffeine that makes both your heart and bladder want to explode. Its the dizziness brought on by too much niacin.  Its the ridiculous amount of taurine that literally makes your kidneys ache and you feel like throwing up. Its having so much ginko-biloba that you lose the the benefit of increased blood flow to the brain and get it interfering with multiple cardiovascular drugs.Doubling the dosages you get from a can of Red Bull but saying its healthier is deceptive marketing and they should be ashamed of themselves.
