We used to point and laugh at those yelling "chemtrails", for good reasons; but, given the need for cloud seeding, I can envision a future where commercial air traffic will have chemical kits installed and will receive instructions from ATC to "deploy chemicals" in certain instances. And, in a couple decades after that, we'll hear about those chemicals cause a less-rare cancer.

I've looked at clouds from both sides now
From up and down and still somehow
It's cloud illusions I recall
I really don't know clouds at all.

If you're upwind of someone and sapping the available moisture from the skies above for your own use... yes.

Lots of places have water-use agreements over lakes and rivers because of this issue, but the day may come when we start seeing places at odds over air moisture content rights.

I love the human race*. Let's not figure out how to effectively manage a shared resource for the betterment of all but, instead, fark each other over as hard and as often as possible.

/*Not really.
//We're the very definition of a virulent parasitic organism
///Also, maybe don't try and support a massive population in an area that gets like 2" rain a year

We can laugh all we want, but this kind of thing is already happening in the U.S. too, because water -- both in lakes and in clouds -- is a finite resource. As cloud seeding becomes more popular, there's always the trade-off of:  "We took water from ______ and gave it to _______."  It's like draining an aquifer that one county/state/country relied upon.  Sure, it's great for whoever received it, but it might end up killing millions from the area that no longer has that water.  The Water Wars of the 2030s or so are going to be brutal, and probably change the boundaries of many nations.

ketkarsa: It's like draining an aquifer

I think the aquafier is worse, actually.  They generally have a steady fill rate and if you drain them faster than they fill you're just living beyond your means until the inevitable failure.

With cloud seeding you can't drain faster than the air fills, you can only change the distribution of the flow.

And yes, I know your point and I got it, I just thought this was a tangent worth exploring.

Good luck proving that cloud seeding actually made that cloud rain when it otherwise would not have.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Popeye
Operation Sober Popeye (Project Controlled Weather Popeye / Motorpool / Intermediary-Compatriot) was a military cloud-seeding project carried out by the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War in 1967-1972. The highly classified program attempted to extend the monsoon season over specific areas of the Ho Chi Minh Trail, in order to disrupt North Vietnamese military supplies by softening road surfaces and causing landslides.

The 54th Weather Reconnaissance Squadron carried out the operation using the slogan "make mud, not war."[5]

One reason military projects are classified and remain classified is to hide how much money and effort was wasted on a miserable failure.

Hotter air can hold more water. I expect this problem is going to work itself out if people can be patient.

Yesterday a friend sent an article about fog collection, and a couple of months ago I read (here?) about a gel that collects water even from desert air.
Even if we very quickly convert oil and gas pipelines to carry clean water, it's going to get ugly.
Russia's invasion of Ukraine is a good excuse to push back and finally take the whole country, so we have agriculture, water, and land for displaced people.

The same way China is stealing all of our good air and sending us their bad air. Yet another reason why we should be nuking hurricanes.

Well I wouldn't put it past the CCP to claim credit for the Earth rotating I don't think that would make them responsible
