It's not fake news, well at least in the sense that he did say it......on the back of a boat, on First Take, with the "moderator" wearing a captain's hat and Screamin A Smith fake laughing.

So still kind of fake news because he doesn't believe it, that whole show is a parody.

Doesn't every local news station speculate about their team before the season starts? Nowhere in the article were they like HELL YEAH, SUPER BOWL!! You guys are dying for us to be arrogant when really we're like, "oh we rank 8th here & 13th here."

Hi Di!

We really need a link to the ESPN article this references and helpfully doesn't include. It will be much more fun to complain about that.

/ cowboys are mediocre but Dak is better than 8th!

Couple more rings and they will be up there with the Browns.   Still a ways to go to reach Packers level tho.

I've found that Cowboys fans within Texas are decent folks, and manage expectations very well.  It's the ones outside of Texas that are obnoxious and always think it's their year, that they're the greatest football team ever, etc.  The only fans worse are UGA* fans.

Typically not in Cleveland.  But generally Steelers fans, like me, have thought every year was the Stairway to Seven.  Well, except me, since I knew we needed a new quarterback.  But this year, the expectations are very low among fans.  Well, they may have been raised after Pickett entered the game last week.  But mine are still low!

This article is basically reporting ESPN's rankings. It never said "this is the Cowboys' year." I know it's hard to believe, but sometimes Fark headlines can be misleading.

Too bad fans can't fire owners.  I imagine Washington fans would've fired him by 2010.

Basically everyone in Cleveland thought they'd win the super bowl last year.  Which was hilarious.

/And then, unsurprisingly, they didn't make the playoffs.
//I honestly don't know how they feel this year.  Literally every second of every day is either talking about Baker (yes, still) or Deshaun.

Having lived in the middle of D/FW for going on 3 decades, it's still funny to me that the vast majority of cowboys "fans" live in other cities/states.

I love going to the grocery/Home Depot/Lowes around 2nd quarter of the cowboys game and seeing jerseys EVERYWHERE worn by people not watching them play.

But let the cowboys win a few preseason games in a row and those same folks will tell you how "this is the year!"

Same can be said about the Mavs, Stars and Rangers. Everyone here is "die hard" but only sort of.

Nah, at that point they'll just say that the year is already an unqualified success, it's fine to not win it all; anything else would be gilding the lily.

Tbh it's the way to be.

I like when the local team is successful 'cause people nearby are excited about sports and I like sports.

I'd prefer team I like more win things, but if the local team is good then I could actually catch them in person and that's more fun than watching crap.

I thought we were talking about local stations since neither of us need to read articles written by ESPN's remoras before knowing plenty enough about the Cowboys and ESPN to see where they are headed

But Alabama has been a historical powerhouse.  UGA* fans have been annoying, and even more so since they thought they won a national championship, which in reality was a conference championship do-over game.
