George Carlin would be really mad at all of us for "adverse health effects"...

/"it makes you die faster"
//"and you'll be even more miserable as you're doing it"

As a species, we're insane.

It ought to be an easy sell to everyone to make it illegal to make anything you can't break down to something environmentally benign after it's done being used.  And another easy sell to make it illegal not to do so.

"Put it back the way you found it" is the only sustainable way to proceed when you have so much stuff being made that it'll destroy the biosphere long before it would otherwise fail without human intervention.

Unsung_Hero: As a species, we're insane.

As a species, we're not evolved enough to keep responsibility ahead of technology.  With much time we may evolve... or just die off.

We've combined neolithic brains with brone-age morality and the technology of the Gods. It's gonna be a bumpy ride, hold on to yer hats...

I am Tom Joad's Complete Lack of Surprise: Level of Difficulty: China doesn't give a damn. Nor does India.

There are deep pockets of no damn around the globe.  It's in our nature.

How it works: The chemists discovered that a mixture of sodium hydroxide, or lye, combined with dimethyl sulfoxide, a common organic solvent, in water heated 176 to 248 degrees Fahrenheit was able to break the strong bonds that hold together perfluoro carboxylic acids (PFCAs), one of the largest classes of PFAS.

So the fix is soap, skin creme and hot water? Everyone, go wash your face, moisturize, and rinse it clean to save the planet.

Oh, yes. They both just feel it's their turn to environmentally rape, following our glorious example.

Probably overrated. From the article's vague description it seems to attack the polar head group, which was already susceptible to degradation, and doesn't do anything to get rid of the "forever" part of the chemicals.
