I am so glad I own property in an area where climate refugees will be flocking to. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

More like McTrailerpark.  This is Missouri, after all.

If only we could have done something about this over the last 50 years.

But rich people didn't feel like it.

Yeah, crop yields and livability will go up where I am... why do I keep trying to convince them to save themselves....

As a person who has had the unfortunate destiny of living in Missouri, I can state unequivocally that this state deserves to have its fields burned and its people scattered.

As a resident of Texas, I did not expect Illinois to become a bigger heat risk than here.

It's what they voted for. So I don't want to hear any complaining or moving to cooler areas.

This is what people don't get: it's not the degree-or-two average temperature bump that's going to kill people and wipe out crops.

It's the extremes.

Sometimes I am so glad I have about 20-25 years left on this planet. Even in the Pacific NW things are starting to get hotter than usual each Summer. As the southern part of the country becomes unlivable the migration North is going to get worse. But at least all of those barren states will still get two Senators in DC and more than their fair share of electoral votes. God Bless America.

and who do you think they will put on the expense hook to help out their predicament?

This is why i want to break up before then. clearly this is an unhealthy relationship in which we just fight over who will dominate and pressures who. there si no mutual aid growth in it, it's just unhealthy to pretend there is a future for hater ass racists, classicist ass capitalist, and egalitarians to share in a culture together.
that's a fooking lie, that is one of those groups oppresses the others.
there is on such thing as a compromise position to reach with classism or racism, for those of us into equality and cooperation as the main tenants of out culture.

I'm going to campaign for President on a "make gov't run like a business" platform.

First item: Too many states are inefficient and a waste of money. One Dakota, one Carolina, NE-KS-OK are also one state.

I agree with this, but with my "luck" I'll be around 50 years to see the horror that happens up here.

Look, I've played Anno 2070, We can totally fix this by just taking over old mines, putting some C02 reservoirs in them and then getting a high enough Eco population so we can build Weather Control Stations! That will get all the ecobalance back in wack.

Had to convert that 125 degrees from fahrenheit to celsius to confirm, but yep. Those are human killing temperatures for sure. We've done so well.

If you're 30 now, in 2053, you'll only be 61.

It's only 30 years. That's not a long time.

I mean 35 ℃ (95 ℉) is human killing levels. 50 ℃ just kills a broader segment of the population in a much faster time.

Meh, that area always seemed like hell to me so it's fitting they should start heating up. Funny that they don't realize God is smiting them for their shiatty racist and judgmental views. Guess they will just have to die of heat stroke and tornados.

Climate deniers deserve to burn the slowest. The most slowest of all to roast should be the unpaid idiots on places like the internet who fought climate science tooth and nail just to be aligned with people like trump or ted cruz or mitch mcconnell. Climate deniers are the worst human beings i can imagine. I would say trumpers are the worst people in the world but the Venn diagram of climate science deniers and trump fellators is probably just one circle.

Yeah, that map sucks.  I'm in Oklahoma and have been planning to move back to Northern Illinois to be close to family (remote work).  I could have sworn there was a map a month or so ago that actually put the Great Lakes area as one of the more tolerable place to live as the climate becomes less hospitable in areas.

The 2050s?

We're already having multiple days of sustained 110+ weather here in Des Moines. I'd predict solitary 125 degrees by 2032 at the latest.

Keep in mind, the effect of black carbon aerosols is not currently integrated into any official IPCC modeling (although a general estimate is that they currently cool by about 0.4C).

We don't even understand clouds in a warming world. That's how advanced we are.

Black carbon emissions and clouds are not the same thing and whatever point you're trying to make falls apart when you conflate the two.

yeah we've failed, internationally, across the board.

dunno that I'm glad I'm not just coming into the world.  but unfixable problems are accumulating, and someone who's young now will face a lot more of them than me.

but life has always been a brief sliver of light, between endless dark.  that's not changed... we can still smile, and make others smile.

cleverfarker t'other day quoted something beautiful

So few grains of happiness
measured against all the dark
and still the scales balance.
The world asks of us
only the strength we have and we give it.
Then it asks more, and we give it.

and I saw final episode of superstore yesterday, for tenth time. Jonah says something in his interview which reminded me of that poem.

you know, when you think about it, a store like this is actually pretty incredible, you know? You help people do their homework and find their styles and feed their grandchildren. You know, there's magic in that. I don't know, people always talk about going out and finding something special, but, you know, maybe we don't have to look that hard. You know, maybe everything is special.

125 in Chicago?! Fark that. It already gets "sweat your ass off" hot in the Loop. I shouldn't be able to sit by Buckingham Fountain and watch people burst into flames.

Yep.  I worked with one and he was serious about watching us slowly die and descend in to hell.
"What if I renounce satan and give my life to Jesus just before I die?"
IT DOESN'T WORK THAT WAY!!!!

Chick tract #12567:   One morning, Harry is walking in to the airplane factory when he is struck by a union worker and his Super Dodge Ram 5000.
Harry:  Oh!  I am dying!  Let the love of Jesus release me from this pain..."

Four Years Later:  Fatass is eating a One Pounder at the lunch spot
Fatass:  Oh.  My heart.....

Next Panel
Harry welcomes Fatass in to Heaven
Harry:   Hey!  Here I am!   God's forgiveness and what not.  Did you know your beef-stench stayed attach to your soul?  Stay out of Vegan heaven.  Well, it's Tuesday.  Me and Dawn Wells gonna have tea with Jesus and Marilyn Monroe.  Be a stranger!

Fatass:  Nooooooooo!
