It's mid-August, the AL East lead is down from 13 games to 9 games, and they want to fire the GM and Coach.

Okay, MFY fans.

The BoSox have blown a 7 game lead in September and 8 games up on the Wild Card on Labor Day. And we all know what happened in 1978.

So, the MFYs are still making the playoffs. And even if we didn't have the Wild Card, they're winning the Division.

"The fact that we had an idea that this team would struggle in certain areas, and it's happening now at the worst time makes me think that they are who we thought they were going to be, which is a team that isn't good enough to compete in the American League."

The worst time for a baseball team to struggle is in October.

This is standard NY sports radio faire. Doesn't matter what time of year it is, it's time to fire Boone.

yeah ,now is a great time to struggle.  there is plenty of time to right the ship and get the all-important momentum into the playoffs

it's like april when the yankees' sky was falling when they were so horrible and the season was over at *checks notes* 7-6 and they went on a historic tear that gave them the cushion to still be up 9 games after being so horrible again

But, oddly enough, their problems are the same: bargain basement relievers and key injuries.

\I'm beginning to think this moneyball BS may have a flaw in its logic....
\\as if the recent history of the A's isn't enough documentation

It is known.

Not so fast, there! If you look at the Yankees over the last 35 games they're only 12-23, while the Red Sox are 14-21! That's two more wins and they're only 14 back. At this pace they can catch the Yankees in ... umm ... lessee... carry the 1...  April 21, 2023.  Wait, that can't be right.

he's too busy saying the white sox are the team they thought they would be

something about even-numbered years really messes with him

odd years: 11.2 WAR
even years: -1.4 WAR (three of four years negative)

I wouldn't say I'm on the "fire Cashman and Boone" train, but I have.. concerns.

A few of the close losses this month can be attributed to shiatty defense and/or shiatty baserunning. A large part of that is coaching.. which Boone is directly in charge of.

As far as Cashman, some of the moves he made this year, particularly at the deadline, are boggling.
Montas has been awful so far, and trading away Montgomery for yet another outfielder that might not even play is.. questionable. He probably should have tried harder to land Castillo.

Second worst record in the majors since the all-star break. This isn't the same team that was .750 in May.

..I'd also like to toss out a gratuitous "fark Apple" out there.

I've seen every Yankees game this season EXCEPT the Apple exclusives, of which tonight is the 3rd

So, feel free to flame away, but I'm a Houston fan.  So far, this season is shaping up to be exactly what I wanted.  When my friend, a die-hard Yankees fan from NJ asked me what a perfect season would look like to me, here's what I asked for:  Yankees and Dodgers both look unstoppable early, both win their division.  Dodgers get taken out by a wild card team, Houston trounces the Yankees for the ALCS in NY all while wearing trash can tattoos.  The Dodgers lose to the wild card team and then the Astros get the WS win.

/So far, so good.
//It won't happen
///flame on.  the saltiness of folks towards the astros is delicious.

O's are still a few years away. I hope moving the LF fence back at Camden Yards will entice a decent FA pitcher to come to Baltimore.

lost again. This marks the first time the Yankees have lost 6 straight series since 1995.

The Tigers' win today also cements the Yankees as THE worst team since the break.
