Rudy is at the event horizon. Never really going away and definitely not coming back. Now if we could just get him to STFU!

TL;DR version.
From prosecuting mobsters, to defending them is a hell of a career path.

How will we know when Rudy Giuliani hits rock bottom?

See, that's the common mistake people make -- assuming there's a bottom that marks the absolutely lowest they can go. But there is no rock bottom with these assholes. They can always dig deeper, and when pressed, they always will.

Hailed as a hero for his calm leadership following the September 11, 2001 terror attacks...

Giuliani left office three months after September 11th. He did next to nothing, other than show up on tv.

Rudy has always sucked. He got elected by leading a police riot/march on city hall.

I'm an optimist. Rudy can hit rock bottom. Hopefully at the bottom of a prison stairwell.

He did mention in a recent interview about how he represented mob bosses. I figured it as the usual brain fart but it could have been a slip about how he ignored the Russian mob and went for the others.

It was fast and kind of weird.

Even on 9/11, on that very day, I was farking incredulous to the bullshiat praise he got. Sure, I understood the emotions involved, but the rational, logical part of my brain knew better.

This guy has always been a farking scumbag, and a horrendous act of evil committed in his city didn't change that fact.  When Time magazine called him man of the year, (yes, even knowing that the "man of the year" thing has never been about being an honor), I knew they had caved to the bullshiat, considering Osama bin Laden was the clear choice for that.

There is no "fall from grace" regarding this corrupt shiatheal.  He never deserved the rise in the first place.

He's always been crap. He got the reputation boost of all reputations boosts on 9/11 just for happening to be the mayor at the time yet managed to even blow through all of that free good will in the years since.

It's said that he cleaned out the Italian mob so the Russian mob could move in. The Russians may have bent Rudy decades ago.

In the two-plus decades since he earned the sobriquet of "America's Mayor," Giuliani has fallen hard, says Jodi Enda. But while the apex of Giuliani's career is easily pinpointed to the painful autumn of 2001, she asks, what is the nadir?

It's the lowest point in the fortunes of a person or organization, but that's not important right now.

2022-08-19 1:29:08 PM
All this has made me wonder... At any point, did Giuliani actually KNOW what he was doing? Or did he just get through the post-9/11 days through luck and good PR?

Because if he was as good as people always portrayed him as being, then he has truly plummeted...

Was he even that good to begin with? He started stop and frisk and other racist/classist policies that have become embedded in America slave patrols, I mean policing

I do feel just a tiny bit sad for him because he seems to be falling more mentally ill with every appearance. The stress is literally killing him, brain first, and I'm not entirely sure he's capable of making the choice to stop at this point. A genuine shame given his past efforts.

Most of the rest of them I'd have no mercy whatsoever. They're sick too, mostly, but it's way more full of hatred than I see from Giuliani. From him I mostly get vibes of confusion, he's been out of his depth for a decade.

9/11 was the best thing that could have happened to both Giuliani and Bush.  It made them into overnight heroes in the public eye.  Everybody was fawning over them because they were doing their jobs.

At least Bush had the good sense to STFU and GTFO once he was done with his stint in office and the country was hit by the Great Recession.  I saw him surface many years ago as the keynote speaker at a conference I went to.  He probably got paid handsomely for that appearance.  Fine, whatever.

Giuliani should have followed suit.  He'd have been fine.

As I've said in the past, at the very least my oldest daughter is learning about September 11, 2001, and is reading about Rudy being considered a hero that day, and showing great leadership in the weeks after.  And then she can turn on the news now, and see that heroes can fall, instead of fading away.

What she won't read about was how the man could poke fun at himself (I'm thinking of his SNL hosting stint), but now can't take a joke about anything, and in fact has become a joke.

I was watching a perfectly fine, fairly interesting docuseries on Netflix (I think?) about the mob in the 70s and 80s that I was thoroughly enjoying. Until the back half of the last episode turned into one long wank-fest for Rudy.

It's not his brains leaking out, but apparently it's not hair dye either like we all thought. We found out in the January 6 Select Committee hearings what it really was:
