"I hate that rule you can pitch a position player," White Sox manager Tony La Russa said. "There's got to be a way to avoid that at some point when you get far down. I think it's a travesty for the game. I don't think fans enjoy it.

Um, Tony, I hate to break it to you but there is exactly one person who can make the decision on whether to have a position player pitch or not. He would be the manager for the team. I think his name is Tony La Russa.

And as a fan who knows other fans, I can tell you a lot of fans like it. Seeing what a position player can do is often the most interesting thing about the top of the ninth in a 17-5 game.

Well, technically, it's a little more complicated than that.  La Russa, or any other manager, can't bring in a position player to pitch if the run deficit is 5 or fewer.

But in this instance La Russa is being the out of touch moron that he has been since the late 1990s.  Also, fark the cheating Astros.

La Russa proves, nearly every time he opens his mouth, that the game and the wider world both passed him by a long time ago. It's well past time to put him out to pasture.

Please, let's not be so savage. They prefer "White Sox" to "trash can."

Yep. The White Sox appear to be a trash can. Maybe they can re-sign Dallas Keuchel.

Huge Astros fan here.  I don't want to beat the Dodgers in the WS (it'd be okay too, I guess), I want to beat the Yankees in the ALCS, then I want to beat the wildcard team that freakishly won against the Dodgers in the NLCS, because that would be even sweeter.  Like, lol, the Dodgers didn't even beat the...Mets/Braves/whoever.  I think that would be even more precious.  The only thing that would be better would be if Joe Kelly went to the game and was hit in the face by an Altuve foul ball.  Seriously, that dude's face is almost as punchable as pharmabro.
