Considering 90% of Republicans are up Trump's ass on everything else, I'd say 50% supporting the FBI's investigation is a W.

They don't think trump** taking classified documents, lying about the FBI planting the documents and then admitting he took them to his place wasn't irresponsible?

Not quite:

Fifty-four percent of Republican respondents said the FBI and Justice Department have behaved irresponsibly following the Mar-a-Lago search, compared to 23% who said they behaved responsibly. The rest said they didn't know.

Half back Trump, only a quarter back the FBI

It won't be long before the Justice Department has ironclad evidence of at least one of the SCI documents being handled by a non-American, probably MBS or Putin. I bet these jagoffs would insist it's TFG's right to undermine his nation in favor of another.

There's no way in hell I'm going to try to get into the mind of a Trump supporter, but to venture a guess I'd say it falls under one of four things.

1. They literally don't GAF if Trump does something illegal/immoral.
2. He generates quite of bit of revenue, so as long as he's cashing in, they don't GAF what he does.
3. He has an (R) after his name, so they don't GAF what he does because he doesn't have a (D) after his name.
4. As long as he's stiggin it to the Libs, they don't GAF how he accomplishes it.

Views on the unprecedented search reflect the nation's polarized politics.

The "liberal" media needs to stop adopting the GQP framing for this situation .  The search was not "unprecedented"!  If you try to steal from the US Government and they find out, you are going to have the FBI and/or other law enforcement searching your house, safe, place or work, etc. to recover it.  The only thing "unprecedented" in the situation is that we have a former president who thought he could get away with it and that no one responsible has been taken away in handcuffs yet.

Trump announced that the search had taken place and has alleged without providing evidence that it was a politically motivated act.

Meanwhile the known evidence surrounding the documents and the providence of those documents is that multiple felonies were committed by the former president.  Maybe, just maybe, the search and more importantly, the seizure and removal of the documents was motivated by DOJ officials concerned for the rule of law and the security of the nation. Totally understandable that Republicans would have issue with those 2 concepts.

It's possible that he took them to sell or just betray the country for attention from a random dictator. But it's just as possible that he simply took them as trophies, so he can brag that he has them. Which is also a crime. Don't make the mistake of setting the bar too high.
