Yes, there's a mid-credits scene

Serious question: why do all the comic book movies and shows do this? I don't think I've really noticed it in any other type of film as much

This.

CSB but one year while I was at C2E2, there was a young woman dressed up as Bucky or the Winter Soldier, depending on the day. I was taking photos of cosplayers and she was hanging out around the cosplay areas at the entrance to the con, so I kept running in to her. She told me she was on a quest to hook up with as many people as she could who were dressed up Captain America, because that's what Bucky would do for Steve.

The last time I saw her was about 2PM on Sunday.

I asked her how it was going and she held up six fingers.

LOL I think What We Do in the Shadows had a mid-credits scene last week.

Because of that, I ended up going through all credits this week. Nothing.

I thought it was amusing at the beginning and provided a good 'tease' for future movies in that specific franchise, but I'm not digging everyone doing this.

At this point it's just tradition. The end-credits of Iron Man was so iconic and talked about (and may have even helped box office) they decided it'd be a good idea to do it for every movie. Well, except Endgame

And really, why not? It's a nice little thing people can choose to stay for or not. Plus they do the important ones earlier in the credits now. And also not every episode of their Disney+ shows has one

This might be the best one. Just from a pure fun standpoint

If I had to guess, she was about half my age. That's just a place I'm not going to go.

Most years, I have one or more attractive young friends there with me as a cosplayer and I guess I see the yucky/creepy side to it often enough that I don't want to contribute to it. C2E2 was also an early adopter of a code of conduct for attendees for the same reason.

(1) There were some early ones that made news, and now it is just what is done

(2) The movies are intensely effects heavy and have an enormous number of crew members as a result.  The mid- and end credits scenes encourage people to sit through the credits.  The vast majority of people working on a movie only get mentioned deep in the credits.  Sure, you never remember them, but at least your eyes might alight on their name going past.  For many, that is the sum total of their recognition outside a cubicle farm.  Seems a small price to pay for some fun bit of fluff at the end.

Ignoring the fact that in the comics, Peggy and Sharon were introduced in the same issue (Tales of Suspense #75; Dec. 1965) and were originally sisters?

Also, is the '2 seasons of a show we have to retcon' thing about Agent Carter? Because that's not on Fiege, there. Marvel Film and Marvel TV were two separate, though linked, entities back then. They may have been sharing a universe, but were definitely not sharing notes; mostly due to the TV side. See 'Marvel Netflix'...

You really don't need to retcon anything with Agent Carter. The events of the series happened and Peggy could have lived and died without ever seeing Steve again in the original timeline, then a new timeline was spawned when Steve went back into the past to live with a variant of her where the two of them rooted Hydra out of SHIELD and got into other adventures that changed how things played out in that version of the MCU. Eventually they assemble a team who can figure out how to make multiversal travel work and Steve goes back to the original timeline to give Sam his shield.

It'd actually make a good What If? episode to follow that timeline, although I'm not sure how they would handle the extra Steve that is frozen on the arctic.

You pretty much have to have things work that way based on how 2014 Thanos going poof didn't undo any of the damage caused by him in Infinity War. The Avengers' time travel resulted in a variant Thanos being created who was no longer connected to the timeline of the original MCU Thanos. Now there's other types of tile travel like the Time Stone that seem to work a little differently, but it doesn't seem to cause the user to file travel so much as it allows them to rewind time on the current timeline and create a new set of events.

Agent Carter was the only Marvel TV show Feige has an EP credit on and the Captain America/Avengers movie writers created it/worked on the first season. The same team who eventually had Steve making out with Sharon then ending up with Peggy. My overall point is there's way more winging it in the MCU than people want to think

Last year, the show was over my birthday and I was out of town. This year, I have several broken toes and had to miss it.

It's  a quality con. I usually go with dancer friends (Deja Vu sends a group who cosplay and hand out passes). A lot of years I met up with long time TFette littletts. It's in a great venue. It's well organized. There's a lot of effort put in to getting decent events and after hours entertainment. Just an all around good time no matter who you are.

I'm not denying there's *no* winging it. But I think there are adjustments on the fly as creators see what hits and what misses. That doesn't mean that there's no overall plan, or even less of one.

Except the TVA was maintaining the Sacred Timeline through Infinity War/Endgame and likely only allowed the variant timelines to exist long enough to lead to Strange's 1 in 14 million outcome.  Assuming the producer's knew where they were going with the Loki tv series when Endgame was filmed, Steve would have had to stay in the main timeline otherwise it would have risked the emergence of Kang.

Well, for the Marvel ones, it's part of their marketing effort: They know which film is coming next (usually) so they add a bonus scene as an ad/link to the next entry in the series.  Gets the buzz going early, keeps the con circuit jumping with new news, etc...

I recall mostly the humerous ones: Spaceballs, History of The World, Smokey and The Bandit (blooper reels). But the first "real" end credit scene I recall was for another comic book film, "Buckaroo Banzai,"  and that had a curtain call for the whole cast, as well as a teaser for a sequel, which never happened:

The events of Loki are very timey-wimey, though. Since Sylvie killed He Who Remains at the end of time, it caused the timelines to not suddenly start branching out at that moment but to instead retroactively poof the multiverse into existence. The various Spider-Men, the What If? characters, America Chavez, Defenders Strange, and the Illuminati all had their own fully formed histories as a result of that event.

Yes, we chronologically viewed the events of Loki as happening after Endgame, but that show doesn't really lend itself to a linear sequence of cause and effect in regards to the rest of the MCU.

I was cosplaying Patriot (Eli Bradley) at Dragon*Con when a young person saw the shield and costume and came over to ask me if I was Captain America.

I started to explain how I was his protege of sorts, and Cap was my inspiration when they interrupted with

"I'll drop my pants for any Captain America."

Now this person was very nice and flirty, but since he wasn't my type, I finished my explanation and indicated that I thought I saw two different Caps in another part of the hotel. He thanks me and walked away.

My then GF (now wife) witnessed this and came over to congratulate me, because I had previously teased that I'd probably be getting flirted with all weekend.
