Yeah, all this scaremongering about the IRS comes down to this.

If you're that worried that having additional people in the IRS will mean you'll get audited, then you're probably doing something youre not supposed to be doing in the first place.

Ah, the infamous Wall-O-Bullshiat.

I remember when lying on TV was considered bad.  Now it's a standard.
Thank you Fox News, conservatives.

Even if they were hiring 80,000+ agents the only thing they would do is go after people that aren't paying their taxes. I pay my taxes and I'm assuming that almost everyone else from the poor and middle class does as well. This level of concern makes me think that what they're really outraged about is that rich people who haven't been paying their taxes may suddenly have to pay their fair share after breaking the law for decades. Which we all know is what the communist Nazis who are puppeteering Biden want.

I hope so.

It annoys me to no end that these Fox News dickheads are inciting overthrowing the US Government not because it's oppressive to blacks, minorities, and/or the poor; but because the government isn't oppressing those groups enough, not giving enough of a free ride to the ultra wealthy, and they desire to turn this government into a Christian theocracy.

Fox News has been lying its ass off about this increased funding for the IRS since the IRA passed, making it sound like they're going to be hiring 89,000 armed goons who'll come confiscate the black velvet picture of Trump off your trailer wall.  It makes me think the real concern about this law at Fox News comes from the very top and the Murdochs definitely don't want anyone seeing the books.

That sounds an awful lot like "if you aren't doing anything wrong you have nothing to worry about".

Can we agree the situation is a little more complex than that?

That a large part of the fears of republicans are because they're upper
Middle class small business owners from rural and suburban areas who are afraid of the IRS for reasons they view as legitimate? Especially with the Fox News fear mongering about government interference and influence and political targeting like their god king Trump?

No. Not really. Taxes are literally math and forms you fill out. If you aren't doing things "shady" then you really don't have anything to worry about. This is an actual case where this is true. "Middle class small business owners" are some of the worst tax cheats  ... just because you are "middle class" doesn't mean you can break the law/rules. I can't tell you how many "small businesses" owners daily "family" driver is a vehicle that they slapped a vinyl sticker with a phone number on so that it is a "business asset." Or whose personal expenses are being paid "by the business" (phone/utilities/etc) even though they are NOT business expenses. Or who "pays themselves" so little that they quality for government assistance, meanwhile their S-Corp (who then pays the personal salary) is making thousands more, and pays for all of the personal expenses of that individual, but is a "service" company so none of that income is taxed... even though it is really just 1 person.

And just because someone "views something as legitimate" in no way makes it "actually legitimate". Just because they identify as law-abiding citizens, doesn't mean they are.

File your damn taxes and don't cheat or be "creative."

But Fox News likes law enforcement.  And Fox News likes armed people.  So what's wrong with armed IRS agents (I mean, besides not being true)?  What if Kyle Rittenhouse applied for the IRS?

Because the narrative of those folks with their panties in a wad are basing their grievance on misinformation.

And the folks not threatened by the IRS fixing to hire 87,000 new staff are entitled to feel that it will be a positive good for the country. Without have an insurgency of violence threatened.
