Someone noticed it streaming on Netflix this past week, didn't have anything else to write about, and decided to give it a watch.

It's a fun little movie. I wouldn't call it a masterpiece.

It's ok.
Nostalgic if you know the times.

That movie didn't get the credit it deserved when it came out.  It really is a fun watch.

I really honestly enjoyed watching it.  I also can't recall a damn thing about it other than that, so I wouldn't call it spectacular.

If you grew up in the 70s, you would re member scenes in that movie from your younger days.

I already gave you twenty dollars... What am I saying?

Brilliant, underappreciated movie. I never even heard of it until it showed up on streaming, and I've rewatched it a dozen times. It gets more brilliant on each viewing. Definitely deserves a sequel.

One of my favorite movies of the last decade.  I would have loved a sequel or 2.

This made me actually laugh harder than I've laughed in quite a bit.

That was a farking movie. Sequels? I'd have been down for one, but I just want more R rated movies aimed at adults and not ones trying to launch a franchise. As a former amatuer drunk, I appreciated the dark humor of the fall off the wagon after a "win." I thought the focus on redemption via the kid's love and respect was a great plot point. This film worked for me. Likely why it sucked a lot of air at the box office.

Nice article. Worth the F'ing read.

List of notable Shane Black Christmas films is missing Iron Man 3.

FYI, my podcast The Next Scene had a season of Shane Black that concludes with our discussion of The Nice Guys
