They're still processing the fact that there are consequences to their actions.

I'm sure she's already dealing with those.

Do not f*ck with librarians. They just want people to be able to read books, and I've never met one that wouldn't quietly, neatly, and professionally slit your throat if you tried to interfere with that.

I'd love to see what kind of "reading material" the two guys she's suing keep in their homes.

Personal anecdote: Fark's remaining 3-days-later submissions are kind of silly in the digital age. This is old news, buried on NBC's website - I read it days ago.

"If this takes four or five years, I'm going to fight these people on this," she said. "Even if I lose, I could say I stood up to them."

Good for her! Sometimes insurmountable odds are just that. All you have to do is try. It doesn't work for everyone but does for others.

Yeah, it's in the YA section of the public library, not a freaking school library.  I mean I pretty much read Joy of Sex and My Secret Garden by Nancy Friday at 13-14.  Never had my access to ANY book restricted. Of course my Momma was a librarian when I was growing up.

More people like her please. Most of this boorish nonsense can be dispersed by people just standing up and saying fark off.

Dealing with bullies isn't that hard, you just have to absolve yourself of the notion there is a high road or some great feeling of morality from turning the other cheek.

Pfftt. You read it on NBC? If you want faster news, you'd be on Twitter or tik tok instead of using snail media.

The only Mag that was frowned upon when I was a kid was Mad mag. My mother was not fond of it. So my uncle fed me the mags. Her brother. I still think it was a conspiracy to get me to read them.

Librarians sometimes have something that no conservative does.  They have a belief in their cause, not just a feigned one for personal benefit.  They're guardians of knowledge, and as such far more important than any one time or place or culture, because the words they guard may very well be important long after this time and place and culture are forgotten.

I can tell a transphobe instantly by this. If they mention Jordan Peterson, J.K. Rowling, and "free speech" in the same sentence, they probably hate trans people. I called one of them out on the attacks against the book "Gender Queer" and, predictably, their response was "but that's different! That's obscene!"

Seriously hate these people so much. I hate how predictable they are, I hate how they have no actual principles and they use the cloak of free speech to defend bigotry but never freedom, diversity, and acceptance.

My mother was stingy with the toys but would often buy books for my brother and me. Her devious plan worked.
Her last gift to me was three 7ft oak bookshelves.

That's because it takes longer to read an article when you have to sound out the words.

This is how it starts. They make character assassinations so heinous that they're indefensible. And ostracize and alienate the out group.

I hope she has more than internet support.

My dad worked for Time Life Books back in the day. Our house was full of those series. I loved the natural disasters one.. My mom was an avid reader and had bookcases full of fiction. I definitely took that exposure for granted.

I was going to say, I hope there's a competent lawyer out there willing to take this case on pro bono so this woman can gain a measure of justice and deter these pricks from farking around with nary a finding out in sight.

We have their names. They're on Facebook. We can probably purchase their entire browsing history and habits from a data broker for 50 bucks. In fact, I may do just that.

I have yet to meet a single person critical of Gender Queer who has actually read it.

And... there's nothing more that needs to be said.

And Ryan Thames also has a fund for his legal defense. He's also a libertarian piece of shiat.

Same here. If I asked for a toy at the store it was maybe. A book every time.

I was that kid with around a dozen Tab books from my order on my desk at school. It was stock for summer reading. When one of the major bookstores closed here in town I bought some of their shelves.
