Ocasio-Cortez's most recent financial disclosure, which was filed in 2021, shows her with assets between $3,003 and $45,000...

Subby, even we accept the lower end of that range as her net worth, you're failing to extrapolate. For example, if she had invested that $3000 in Tesla just 10 years, she'd have nearly half a million today. Using her congressional connections, it would be child's play to insider trade her way to a fortune in a matter of months. Her actual net worth is infinity, and that's why we should all be concerned.

You know, we can all lie too.

Don't give me "multiple facebook posts"... Let's source the image and find out who made it and see how much they are worth.

I heard it was eleventy billion trillion dollars.

But can we trust her not to lie on her financial disclosures?

Y'all sure you want to put this dog on the hunt folks? Because there are a LOT of Representatives who have suddenly gotten REAL good at collecting dollar bills like they're free Pokemon cards. Only, they are on the other side of the aisle, and some of them were in deep before they ran, and now they're flush. Wonder how that happens?

If I recall correctly, one of the things that was tough for AOC when she started her new job was making the security payment on a DC apartment on a Brooklyn bartender's salary.

A lot of folks don't understand the real money isn't in business, it's in working to try and take care of the weakest members of society.

If you don't have cash as a middle class person it's because poor people are hoarding it.

Seems like I could afford loan payments if I was making $174,000/year and single with no kids. But that's just me, I guess. I'll continue to make my payments making just under a third of that. Oh, the trials and tribulations of life!!

Today at work I overheard to Trump humpers were "outraged" an Nancy Pelosi's net worth and how it just must have been gained through nefarious means. I thought to myself how these people know the net worth of politicians they dislike, yet they have zero concern for the net worth of politicians they support. No concern over Mitch McConnell's net worth at all, or how a Turtle impersonator from Sheffield, Alabama can amass so much wealth legitimately as a Kentucky carpetbagger.

Conservative logic. When Trump claims to be a multi billionaire it is a sign success and abilities. When a liberal has money it can only be from cheating or hand outs.

Not to cede any ground to the nutjobs here, but just for kicks, let's say the claim of her wealth was true.  In that scenario, she'd still be recognizing that not everyone is in that position, and she's fighting for the people who don't have those same advantages.  I realize that being willing to go to bat for people who are different from you even if it doesn't benefit you personally is anathema to the Republican worldview, but from where I'm standing, it would make her even better.

And I don't know that her claim has ever been "I need this debt cancellation". I think she has always just said "I understand the burden that puts on a budget because I too have to make student loan payments (unlike some other members of Congress that graduated college 40 years ago)".

So rather than call out every single Republican in Congress for THEIR financial dealings, they single out the one person that is LEAST likely to be guilty of the same farked up behavior.

I don't think they thought their cunning plan through very well.  Especially since things like financial disclosures are easy to check once made public.  Unlike, you know, certain Presidents that absolutely refused to disclose theirs.  OR, stop me if you heard this. other members of Congress that are known to be hiding money all over the farking place, after having lied on their own disclosures.

1. No one claims she can't afford her payments

2. 174k in a high COL area like DC is not the fortune it is in your podunk town

3. She is also required to maintain a residence in her home district-Queens is also not cheap

I remember that. It always had some quote from some well-off congress critter that said those freshmen representatives were abusing their power by forcing capitol janitorial staff to clean up after them, and forcing their interns to do their laundry. Also, that living and sleeping in their office was gross and unhygienic.

The problem, of course, wasn't that rent is so unreasonably high in the D.C. area, or that freshmen reps don't make enough money to afford two residences. No, the problem was that congressional support staff were being forced into doing jobs they didn't sign up for. The reps should just go be poor someplace else.

Presumably because he doesn't want to get royally screwed if they get unpaused.

I'm presuming that's a big reason why so many idiots keep clamoring to get them cancelled.  Because so many people haven't paid on them in 2.5 years.  If they get unpaused but not forgiven, they're SCREWED.

/Unless you got defrauded, you took out the loan.  PAY IT OFF LIKE A BIG BOY OR GIRL. Millions of people manage to do it every year.  If you're too stupid to figure it out, that's on you.
