In the last week Garland has been accused of being an authoritarian thug, a weak wristed pussy, and a victim.  Every time this tactic happens, and it happens a lot, I think of this quote from Ur Fascism:

8. The followers must feel humiliated by the ostentatious wealth and force of their enemies. When I was a boy I was taught to think of Englishmen as the five-meal people. They ate more frequently than the poor but sober Italians. Jews are rich and help each other through a secret web of mutual assistance. However, the followers must be convinced that they can overwhelm the enemies. Thus, by a continuous shifting of rhetorical focus, the enemies are at the same time too strong and too weak.Fascist governments are condemned to lose wars because they are constitutionally incapable of objectively evaluating the force of the enemy.

You see this over and over again in how Republicans choose to deal with their adversaries.

I haven't read that since college, but I imagine a whole heck of a lot of it applies today.

It's harder to find since The New York Review put the full essay behind a paywall.  I used to defend the internet as a pile of shiat filled with diamonds if you knew where to look, but that's increasingly untrue.

Alphax: Fox News is mind poison.  Unhealthy for anyone to consume.

There's a guppie that turns on Fox in the breakroom.  Just stands there, nods his head.  Stands, doesn't sit.  Every once in a while, he looks around to see if anyone is watching him.  Most of the government employees can work from home but for some reason, he has to come in, watch Fox and nod.  The other day, Fox was biatching about Pelosis' husband going to Trader Joe's and blocking handicapped spots.  He stood there and nodded.  Creepy.

They're stirring the pot for ratings and clicks.  They pretend to be sounding the alarm in order to rile people up, then they claim nobody should take them seriously once something bad happens.  Schrodinger's Network.

It's time to nail them to the wall on two fronts:

1) Boycott every company that advertises on Fox News and hammer them with daily complaints
2) Sue the shiat out of Fox News every time they lie

Otherwise it will never end.

Wait until you're the only 2 people in the break room. Then go full WWE on him with a chair.

Bonus points for talking to IT and asking if there's cameras in the break room, and where.

Most conspiracy theories rely on this crutch.  Someone was once explaining to me how some secret international cabal ran everything.  My response was "So this super secret organization, that you seem to know everything about is, based on your last sentence, both all-knowing and dumber than a box of rocks?"  What followed was stuttering and even more bizarre statements, until I just walked away.

Still somewhat true.

The easiest diamonds have already been removed, and sold at market.

Now, you have to REALLY dig through the shiat to find smaller diamonds

It is not satire. It is effective. It is working and more than 75 million americans believe it. They are using it to regain power over all three branches of government for the first time in many, many years and place a sociopathic, narcisstic, angry man in charge with zero oversight.

Republicans are stronger than they have ever been in the modern political era and they are being led by a mad man. There are enough people to stop them who do not agree with their agenda, they just have to come out to vote.
