(The Drive)   Red 1997 Saab 900 Turbo convertible with a mere 246 miles goes for $145K on BaT. There's got to be a nostalgic Saab story behind this   (thedrive.com) divider line

When did it become ok to call out a Farker in the headline?

I drove Saabs for decades.

The 900 is a wonderful car. The quality of the engineering, the construction, the fit the finish is way beyond anything else.

The only drawback, at all, were all the idiots constantly making the "Saab Story" pun.

One client of mine had to make that joke every single time I ever mention driving.

The convertible Saab, the car of the rich kids who went to my High school.  Also, one of my favorite cars of all time.

The Saab was a great car, I think we sold our mid 80s model, after 3 sibs had used it for 10 years as their first car, for somewhere in the low $2000s.  I still miss that car, even as I never miss driving standard, ever.  It was surprisingly reasonably priced too, like half the price of a BMW, ours was $26k?  I don't know why it got dinged for being a luxury car, I guess just because it was foreign?

The poor man's BMW, I called mine. Very sweet ride, my non turbo 900. I still miss it.

Once all new cars are electric, what will happen to the value of these old ICE vehicles?

I remember working at a car dealership South of Atlanta in 1993. We had a couple come in to try and buy a new Maxima with no money down, and a 1986 Saab 900 as trade in.

They got passed when we only offered 5k for it....

Arlo Pear: What happened to my car?
Brad: Brad probably loaned the car to the Pope. Don't let the hat fool you, Man, the Pope's a crazy f**ker. He probably blessed the car, got wasted and drove it off a f**king cliff.

My sisters rich boyfriend gave his old 900 convertible to me.  That car was so goddamn slow.  The only car I ever drove in my life that was any more painfully slow was a 1984 cavalier.

The ladies liked that car but good god was it ever so horribly slow.  My geo metro would smoke that thing.  Yes, I've had some hoopties.
