Cable subscribers may remember WGN, a local station in Chicago that got repeated on cable systems for some reason. That channel eventually became News Nation not very long ago.

Wonder how this affects all the markets where the CW is competition for Nexstar local stations.

It shouldn't.
Nexstar started by owning both the CBS (WYOU)nd NBC (WBRE)affiliates in the Scranton market. Although the local news is the same on both channels ,it didn't affect the other programming.

Way back when WGN used to have WGN Superstation that was included in many cable packages across the country. That was when they broadcasted 162 Cub games a year.

uhhh... said anyone who has no clue what the value of owning a media company is.
the 'profits" are not shown in $$$ but in control of the culture and the power to direct public POV.
After all the "public's POV" is whatever the media shows them.
