Trumpers flood reviews of his books on Amazon.

I use to read his books.

What happened to King. He's woke and he hates trump. His books are political garbage.

He uses his writing to attack our greatest president...

When the king of fictional horror realizes there's a king of real horror.

King:  If I had written this clown's life and presidency no one would have published it unless chapter one was his negotiation with the devil.  And I made the devil drunk and saying "sure, Donnie.  Whatever you want, man.  Just sign so I can get some sleep, bro."

No, they just post reviews without actually reading the books. Pretty much the same thing with the Constitution and the Bible.

"I do understand that a guy driving a pickup truck covered with Trump and NRA stickers - you know, take my rifle when you pry it from my cold, dead fingers - would stop and pick up a stranger if he was in a rainstorm and say: 'Where you going, buddy?'" he explained. "That guy might go out of his way to take him there because people as individuals are good. I think sometimes when they get to be a political group that can be a problem."

That's fair, and probably a good thing to keep in mind, even if doing so gets you labeled as a filthy brunch-eating c*ntrist. I would just add that the hypothetical trucker probably only picks up white guys.

It was an interesting interview until the end when King just threw up his hands and said 'I don't know, how about aliens. Aliens did it. The end.' I was expecting something a little more satisfying.

While it's true that you will never change anyone's mind by screaming "fark you" in their faces, never in the history of our nation does anyone deserve exactly that more than the people who voted for this motherfarker.

It's not a polite disagreement over tax policy or the size of the Pentagon budget anymore. You assholes voted to hurt people and that will not be forgotten anytime soon.

I'm surprised that the article doesn't mention The Dead Zone as one of his novels/movies, considering it centers around a guy who can see the future for a guy who would become an evil president about to start WW3.

"I think he actually engaged in criminal behavior and, certainly, I felt that he was a sociopath who tried to overturn the American democracy not out of any political wish of his own but because he could not admit that he had lost," said King, 74.

That's always the issue.  Too many people don't want to believe people are *that* petty when it comes down to it.  They don't want to believe that grown adults throw fits or have personal concerns on the level with spoiled six year olds.

Expect to see a lot of this " wuh wuh wuh why can't we just get along?" shiat soon from magats with enough of a brain left to work out what's about to happen to Trumpism.

Lol how about farking no?

Trumpers are not good people. Not as a group and not individually. To refer to them as shiat is to insult the utility of shiat. And they'll be treated as such, at least by me personally, for as long as I'm alive and in control of my faculties. Pretty sure I'm not alone.

And I have to disagree with him. Maybe 1 out of 10 would be a good guy who picks you up in a rainstorm. The other 9 rednecks and hicks, in my experience, would ignore you, aim for you, pull over and rob/beat/rape/shoot you, roll coal at you, or just scream obscenities and throw their beer can at you.

See, I think Stephen King, as much as I admire him and follow him on Twitter, has a wee bit of white privilege that he's not acknowledging when he says things like this. The guy in the MAGA truck might pick YOU up average-looking white guy. But if you were a woman? A black guy? A brown guy wearing a turban? A white guy wearing a rainbow pin? A white guy without a beard standing next to a broken-down Prius? A Japanese woman?

Well, then it would be very, very different. And those of us who fit one of more of those descriptions know it. We've experienced it.

I travel around the state for my job, and two of my stops are in deep deep redneck towns. I mean, we're talking towns that ranked in the "Top Ten Most Redneck Towns In Michigan" here. And as long as the people in those towns think you're one of them-- a white, rural, Christian, heterosexual, cisgender conservative-- they are really friendly indeed. They'll help you out, say hi when you walk by, and respect you.

But when they see or sense that you're not one of them, and you're different somehow... Well, then that's a whole different face on the townsfolk. Their entire attitude is different. You're an other and they can barely contain their revulsion, fear, and hatred in interactions with you. If you're alone and they're in a group, they feel brave enough to say shiat to you about your race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, politics, automobile (they really hate EVs and hybrids unless they're pickup trucks), or geographic origins (city folk ain't welcome.)

When you're not one of them, the majority of those "good country folk" have nothing nice to say to you or do for you. The smile that was on their face for everyone else turns to a scowl or sneer. You feel the danger you might be in if you find yourself in the wrong place at the wrong time. They hate you and they're proud of it. Hating you is 1/3 their identity.

When you're a famous, white, wealthy, cisgender, heterosexual author who clearly has a quaint 1950s attitude about small towns and considers "rural" to be the wilds of Maine, it's a bit different than when you're a pansexual, democratic-socialist, gender-fluid, beardless, Gen X, anti-fascist, agnostic pagan driving something that isn't a lifted Ram pickup. And I just thank goodness I'm not black, Hispanic, Persian, Indian, or even physically female when I go to those towns. I have white privilege, too, and I'm aware of it. But if you think I'm not going to hide behind it when a truckload of billybobs are flexing their Second Amendment rights and MAGA flags in a town where the local cops would just as soon string me up with the rest of them, you've got another think coming.

My partner and I joke that I should wear a fake beard when I go to those towns. Not having a beard marks me as a potential liberal commie qu##rbait antifa in their books.

So I appreciate what King is trying to say here, but he's just wrong. His experience is limited in this realm, and he hasn't been cornered by hicks who take issue with his "Elect Jennifer Granholm" sticker and then figure out he's not a regular-guy heterosexual, I'm willing to bet.

Interracial marriage guy in a rural area chiming in.

If my wife is in a store, a lot of times the cashier is very friendly to the person in front of her. Then when she approaches the counter it's an immediate difference. The friendliness doesn't fade, it BOLTS. Friendly smile to scowl in no time, terse responses to anything she says and no "have a nice day" like she just said to the white guy who paid before her.

We also get a lot of people who hold doors open for a line of people but then let the door slam closed when she walks up.

Yep. That's about par for the course for me when I'm too obvious about who I am.

I had the same experiences when I lived in Grand Rapids for a decade. They're not rednecks there, but they have the same "oh you're not one of us well then" attitude and personality shift. They also love to leave little hints all over the place to remind non-Christian folks they're not welcome, like little crosses, Jesus fishes, or Bible quotes on their menus, front doors, or marquees. Or showing up for a contracted job in a truck covered in right-wing propaganda stickers and flags.

But what always gets me is the non-smile some of them adopt. It's this blatantly fake, obviously painful, grimace-like, glassy-eyed, just-this-side-of-scowling smile that some of them use to seem like they're being civil and "giving you a chance" when in a professional situation (Working at a national chain store/restaurant, for example) when it's pretty obvious that they hate your guts and wish they could drag you behind their truck.

That sentiment, while true in the past, is no longer true.

What I mean is, the intellectuals will not "yield to the stronger" these days. Intellectuals have learned to even the playing field. The "stronger" might have physical might, but the smarter have tactics, computer savvy, and access to technology that would make the average knuckle-dragging brute shiat his pants. The nerds have the upper hand in the balance of power, and the might-makes-right folks haven't had to face that reality yet.

When they do, it will be a harsh realization. We don't need to take up arms and meet you in the streets. We can destroy you from behind our screens.

Lol, King has always hated political con artists (along with religious nuts like the ones drawn to the orange one), they form the basis of a number of his books. If they were true Constant Readers they'd have noticed that well before Trump rose to embody the worst characteristics of some of his villains

In the modern context, "stronger" doesn't mean physical or military strength. It means numbers, and there are a lot of racist idiots out there willing to support whichever fascist is willing to tell them what they want to hear. All the racist idiots need to do is to keep voting the way the Fox media empire wants them to vote. If you know how a smart, technically savvy individual can address that problem, I'd love to hear it. Sign me up.
