She should probably build some sort of SPITE annex that blocks out the sun or something.

What the heck is a holiday home?  Is it like a rental cabin?  And if the guy built 18 of them, how big is his back yard?

I beieve that is correct about rental cabins and I assume its the country so he probably has a decent amount of land.

The problem is when people move to the country and buy 5 acres they actually believe they own the 50 acres around them and if they live their long enough  eventually the 500 around that.

So that when Farmer A dies and his kids sells the land to developers they go but but but we like living next to a farm not a subdivision or we are OK with you growing corn but not raising pigs.

Which is understandable however you only actually own 5 acres and if  the zoning laws allow it then too bad so sad.

Yep.  It's all on the back of this hunnered dolla bill.

/CSB
Dear Old Dad wanted to build his dream home in South Chicago.  He bought the land and because he's cheap, filed all the required documents himself.   On the day of the groundbreaking, the bulldozer operator was carving out the basement when a Lincoln continental rolled up and a guy who looked like Danny DeVito hopped out.  He spoke to the operator who immediately drove the bulldozer on to the lowboy and took off.  He then talked to dad who uttered the longest fiercest line of profanity I ever heard the man yell.  And he dealt with my shiat, too.

So, it seems dad filed every document Cook County required with the requisite $20 but Danny didn't get his.  He now demanded something more than dad was willing to pay.  The house never got built, dad decided to get out of Cook County and after he passed, we found an exchange of letter of him trying to sell that property.  Cook County put a lien on it and there were about twenty letters where dad was demanding an amount to clear it and he was getting the Cook County run around.

so, the eye of newt and bat signal stuff isn't silly... if they're of ecological significance in the area then impacts need to be assessed.
otherwise pure silliness.

The plans were rejected, but then approved after the council reconsidered them
Now Mrs Shave, of Marden, Kent, has submitted her own holiday lets application
Her son says she doesn't actually want them built, but is just 'testing the system'

As a connoisseur of spite I like her energy here.

What Americans would call a trailer or a double wide, but most such developments you are legally not allowed to live in them year round. They are for "holiday" use only, so limited to maybe eight months of the year. People either own them and go there for the summer or weekends, or rent them out.

Also, from my experience in UK construction, the #1 failsafe way to find a colony of endangered greater crested newts is to apply for planning permission to build something, preferably a road.

DNRTA.  But as for Subby's headline.  You have to do all that paperwork because of the assholes who would burn tires in their backyard and use motor oil for week abatement if it wasn't illegal.

They must be related to the Appalachian Elktoe mussel, the rare endangered invertebrate whose range is restricted only to those freshwater streams Koodz tries to cross with a road or water pipe.

Pfft to all that. When I first came here, this was all swamp. Everyone said I was daft to build a holiday home on a swamp, but I built in all the same, just to show them. It sank into the swamp. So I built a second one. That sank into the swamp. So I built a third. That burned down, fell over, then sank into the swamp. But the fourth one stayed up. There's your hydrological report right there.

I'm watching this documentary right now and it convinces me that if people are allowed to do what they want instead of working with a government that enforces rules, they kill everyone then follow it up with suicide, but in the most expensive ways, like MAXIMUM costs. Yeesh.

You have the entire internet at your fingertips yet you decide to show your ignorance instead of trying to improve your knowledge.

There are many search engines where it would take almost the same amount of time to find your answers as it takes to write your ignorance.

Is Elktoe like second cousin to mooseknuckle?
