Why the hell does an app like this need 450 people working for it?   What the hell are the other 449 people doing all day?

No one calls in for tech support at an app startup. They don't have phone numbers. You submit a help ticket and maybe someone gets back to you within a week.

Not just one app, and they had their fingers in a LOT of corporate pies. "Mindfulness" is the latest perk offered to tech workers everywhere, and if you're the company that's selling that perk to those companies on a per-seat/per-service license, you're making money hand over fist. Calm sold team & business plans and provided everything from content tailored to your particular LoB right down to branded content for your specific workplace.

There's a reason apps like Microsoft Viva are picking up steam - there's more money than folks realize in keeping employees calm, sedate, and focused during the day, and a lot of competitors eating into Calm's business business.
