Meh, it's furnished.

Some film production crew will rent it for 6 months, then it'll be vacant again a bit.

This, some big stars don't own property in LA and will not stay in a trailer, so the studio rents this place for them.

If so, I hope someone is getting a hefty kickback, because this place is pathetic bang for the buck.

It's probably vacant most of the time and the studio "negotiates" a lower rate.  LA real estate is insane, but not that insane.  This is a Hollywood quirk. The high price is meant to keep people away.

If I was really rich, yeah, I can see spending that kind of money on rent.

(You're paying someone else to have all the headaches associated with property ownership. And I image there's a lot of headaches associated with high-end property ownership.)

Obscene.

But, i have seen worse. Friend of mine goes to a place in south carolina. House right on beach. Cant have a private beech, but it is so far away from the big public beeches it pretty much is private. Stays two weeks. Per week rental is 20k. The owner just notified him that rent is going up next year. Friend was like "well, we love this place so i am sure we will make it work. How much?" ...

Double.

Dude is gonna charge 40k a week. Just pure capitalism. He explained that he saw others do it and people still paid, so even if he loses 40 percent of his customers, he is still coming out ahead.

My friend looked up the sales history of the property. Guy bought it in 90s for 800k. Obviously did some work on it, but even if he put in 400k, his ROI is 30 weeks. He has already made the value of the home in profit probably 15 times over.

My friend said they are gonna pay it, love the place too much.

I said he obviously had too much money because that is obscene.

All I know about that neighborhood is it's required that every car making a left out of it onto San Vincente do so immediately regardless of oncoming traffic.  It has a strong stench of entitlement.

biatching that your summer beach rental that was 20k went up is a little tone deaf.

We have a place we have rented for 2 weeks every summer for about a decade. It was always at the end of the say, "Next year?" "What we looking at?" and maybe a 5% bump at most.

Last year (for this summer) it was like 20%. I get it, demand when nuts for that stuff during and post pandemic.

Talked to the dude last week about next year for our "weeks". Owner was basically, "I'm still working on numbers, holding the week for you until i have them, and want to do right by you, but people are throwing bags of money at me for it"

I get that and respect it, dude isn't running a charity, he is running a vacation rental.

He needs to balance his profit, vs us potentially saying too much, finding something else, and he misses out on his guaranteed 2 weeks every year if things go south.

Does it have a nice view of the Nicole Simpson murder house?

On a full moon night, you can hear the screams and see the image of a man running down the street, bloody knife a flashing in the moonlight.  And a white Bronco peeling away from the curb and flies up into the night sky.

Right? Just some quick back of the envelope math, the mortgage on 9.5 million dollars would be like 55k a month.

My rental company seems to think so. Jacked it $20/month again. As they've done every year for the past 6 years, even through the pandemic. Jerks.

Meanwhile, my paychecks haven't gotten bigger. Everyone's raising their prices, but nobody's raising their pay.

They're giving you a below inflation adjustment year over year and they are the jerks according to you. There is an ungrateful entitled person in your rental agreement and it isn't the landlords.

If your not getting paid what you think your labor deserves, be responsible for your own life and renegotiate your salary with your employer. Or, improve your skill set and find another employer.

$72k here will get you 15 acres of woods w/a creek and power line drop. Tack on $5k for a septic tank, $5k for a well, & $15k for 1bd/1ba pre-fab cabin and you're set unless you're streaming 4k video or gaming beyond what a 5g hotspot can handle. And you can hunt your own land.

$72k is my salary if I work contracted overtime every weekend, to make my 72 hour pay periods into 96 hours.

And that's if they're offering an additional incentive to take that extra shift.

/my maths calculates it to be over 100k, but I figured I'd be racked over with taxes

The hell are you babbling on about? Well water, provided the aquifer isn't contaminated by pollutants, is perfectly safe for drinking. Where do you think most of the world's drinking water comes from?

As for the incel army comment: not everyone likes being crammed assholes-to-elbows in an overpriced & under-maintained big city apartment
