Skunks are actually really cute if you don't piss them off. My brother found a litter of them on his farm years ago, the mother probably got hit by a car. It turns out animal control doesn't care about skunks and at least in Ohio at the time there was no local "skunk rescue" so they fed them for a week or two and let them back out in the wild. Probably not the best thing to do, but what the hell do you do with eight skunks?

Even better? Some cop had to put him in the back seat of the car for the ride down to jail.

/ I'm sure his holding cell mates were also pleased.

I remember a friend I had as a kid had a "Masters of the Universe" figure called Stinkor and that thing smelled bad like a skunk.

zerkalo: Deputy LePew reporting for duty!

Well, the article does say "When following commands from deputies, a skunk came in and sprayed Simonson."

The Deer Park constabulary has trained skunks on their payroll.

The article lacks some information. Maybe "sprayed by a skunk" is a new euphemism for "arrested"?

My mom called skunks "pole cats". Maybe this one was a pole Catholic.  They're known for sitting in their own pew.

that would bring crime to a complete halt in many jurisdictions.

Well that crime really stunk!
Think about the police who had to be locked in a car with him, i wonder if they said f it and just burnt the car after they got done with him.
