It is sad. I do wonder what the woman whose house was burned down thinks about all of the sympathetic media coverage, though.

Despite being of her own doing, 53 is still to young to die.

Well, that's too bad.  I don't know much about her other than her connection to Ellen.  I do know the pervasive insidiousness of addiction pretty well and am inclined to think that her addiction issues were monumental given what we have seen about her recent decision making.

Not excusing any of it.  I just empathize to a certain extent, both with Anne and the property owner/victim.

Watch her in Donnie Brasco, she was pretty damn good in it.

Honestly, for someone who sustained the injuries-both ex and internal- that she did, this is the best thing to happen. Even if she didn't succumb to her injuries, her life would've been hell on earth. More so than it looks like it already was.

I am actually surprised that all of California didn't catch fire from this car accident that burned down the lady's house. I feel so bad for her and thing that the Fire Department there are the real heroes.

Mental illness is horrible. And unfortunately the need to consciously or unconsciously self-medicate with drugs and alcohol just makes it infinitely worse. We're very lucky she didn't take anyone with her in the accident, but her own personal downfall and death is terribly sad. Someone I know worked with her briefly, and said she was extremely pleasant but always had a haunted and hunted look in her eyes. If you believe in an afterlife let us hope that she finds a degree of peace that she apparently could never find in this life.

I just prefer to remember her from 6 Days 7 Nights because she was very sexy in that movie.

Not sure if serious, but I always attributed it to the interview she gave (maybe to 60 Minutes?), while rolling on ecstacy babbling about aliens

If Ezra Miller turned up dead in a fiery crash, I wonder if everyone would be using SAD tags.

I was being serious. You don't remember all the blowback she got over it when the news broke right before the release of Six Days Seven Nights?

But yes, her ecstasy usage and walking into a strangers house while tripping balls was also a big factor.

She has a history of mental illness.

No, she should have not been driving drunk, and drugged.
But sometimes when a mind is going into overload, you may not use common sense.

Just fortunate that she was the only eventual fatality in the accident.

Doubtful after what he did to Michelle Trachtenberg.

It hilarious that you think insurance actually comes anywhere near covering losses.

Especially if belongings lost were quite personal and/or irreplaceable.

Not to mention the money she's going to get from GoFundMe accounts, the inevitable lawsuit against Heche's estate, and selling interviews to news programs or TMZ or something. She'll be fine, and, like you said, she's alive.

Still a traumatic experience, don't you think? Lose everything you own because of someone else's reckless behavior? It would take me a very long time to get over that. A very long time.

This is sad.
I don't know much about her really.  All I heard was that she was having some pretty severe mental issues.  It's unfortunate that she didn't get the level of help that she needed.

And that's all I can really say about that.
It's sad.

RIP, Ellen's Ex-girlfriend.

Yes, absolutely I have sympathy for her and what happened to her is unfair and terrible. Financially, though, she will be fine, and in a way it's better for her that the person who ran into her house was famous and wealthy. She has been able to raise $150k on gofundme so far, which should help soften the blow from the trauma. I don't think it would be the same if some random person had destroyed her house instead.

Ellen was the unknown in that little romp, nobody gave a sh*t about her before she got her hooks on Heche's rising stardom.
Ellen is a f*cking ghoul.
