I mean, mistakenly firing James Gunn when he has a hit franchise would make Warner Brothers look a lot more like Marvel.

I'm not angry about it - these things happen. But those two shows are definitely on my list for why I have that channel. I got HBO  when the dc unlimited app moved all their video shiat to HBO. Oh well, been looking for a reason to cancel.

Yeah, I'm surprised Doom Patrol has lasted this long.  I like it, but can see why people would not.

Teen Titans was pretty abysmal IMO, you gotta be a true superfan of the comic or animated series to love it I think.  Doom Patrol has its charm, but it's wildly uneven and most people wouldn't know it's a DC property unless it was stickered at the beginning, and cyborg occasionally showed up.  Also wondered how long the angst and anxiety that is the lifeblood of this, the first superhero-cringe show, could really sustain interest.

I like Doom Patrol more than most of the cringe-humor I've seen, but the lack of character progression is irritating, it feels like all "lessons" learned get forgotten or reset every few episodes, the writers room must have insane churn, or just be insane.

Cancel one, five more pop up to replace it.

I was planning on bingeing Titans next but if it ends on a cliffhanger, I won't bother. Doom Patrol set up for an interesting season 4, but I'm not getting my hopes up for renewal.

On another note, I'm guessing they're probably not going to move forward with The Dead Boys Detective Agency if they don't already have a season in the can. Disappointing, but not surprising.

All I ask is if Doom Patrol gets another season they don't end it on a cliffhanger. PLEASE see the writing on the wall producers/writers. Wrap it up.

HBO /Warner already screwed Keaton out of 3 Batman performances, With the cancellation of Doom Patrol, they've managed to screw Brendan Fraser twice in one week as well.

HBO passed on The Sandman, but Warner produced it for Netflix, which is now enjoying one of its biggest successes ever.

W/ the current Discovery regime in charge, it'll be five reality shows about mentally ill people who edit comic book Wikipedia entries.

THIS! I and many many others had been looking forward to the release of the Sandman show and had kept up on all the futile attempts that I'm now glad were failures. I can see why some folks may not love it if they are tied to the comics, but the code switch haters can fark right off.

I was thinking that with all the issues DCEU were having, this would have been a fine feather in their cap. But maybe this is what it took to keep them from farking it up.

It is probably too much to ask for a Death: The High Cost of Living moviereleased on Netflix, but the heart wants what it wants. I don't need a limited series with padding. And I think Howell-Baptiste playing Death brought out Tom's best, or at least most charismatic, work in the series, though I haven't finished it yet.

My wife was dreading sitting through another CB based series, though she's been pretty GGG so far. But she is more anxious than I am to finish the season now!

My fondest hope is that the industry realizes the value of Gaiman's voice being involved in the production and copies that like they do any other success.

This reality show CEO moron is going to kill a whole streaming service before it even really gets started.

Is he married to Marissa Mayer, Meg Whitman, Carly Fiorina?

I like Doom Patrol, and am amazed that it ever got made, let alone came as close to faithful as it did...that said
it has been retreading the same story beats constantly. there is zero character growth, and there is only so many times the same characters can have the same conversations before it starts to get tedious.

Why anyone is surprised is beyond me.  The guy behind the wheel is known for doing this, it's literally the only thing he knows how to do.  Ask anyone who used to work on the Discovery Channel productions when they were in Maryland.  He took a successful and well-oiled production studio and completely turned it upside down simply because he didn't like the idea that it wasn't on the West Coast.

He doesn't know how to run a studio, but refuses to let those who do actually do their job.  So now we get the current chaos with the DCEU and HBO Max.  And knowing him, it's only just begun...

his job is to cut costs to increase revenue, not to care about a product.

/ he also most likely hates anything "progressive" culturally

You're right in that he didn't care about the product. When he was in charge of Discovery, he didn't care about that at all. But he DID care that the production wasn't don't in CA, because that's where all the other studios were (in his mind), and felt that because of this, he wasn't "respected" enough (I am not joking).

Thus began Discovery Channel's decline, and the end of their production studios in Maryland.

That's the thing, this guy isn't about the product like some. He isn't even about the revenue, like most (and like you suggest). He's just about his own ego, and his track record shows it.

Man, I'm sad about Doom Patrol.  We have been slowly working through the episodes, but had a bad feeling after we heard about the new management so we started binging.

/halfway through season 3.
//heard season 3 finale is a decent series finale if it comes to that.
///show will be missed.

I don't think this is entirely true. Jane and Cliff may be treading water (with Jane it's hard to say given the generally chaotic nature of her character... it's a strange status quo that allows for a lot of change while feeling the same). However, Cyborg, Larry and especially Rita have developed a lot in the last season.

Titans is just okay. You're not necessarily missing out if you end up not watching it, though I enjoy it on the whole. If the most recent season ends up being the last, it didn't end with a cliffhanger (that I remember, anyway,.. I've maybe forgotten).  So you'd be fine binging it.

You have described my feelings perfectly.

I love Doom Patrol to death, but I'm absolutely confused to hell that it's somehow been allowed to last as long as it has.  Someone on that show must be a farking genius with minimizing costs to make it orders of magnitude cheaper to make than it looks like it is, because it can't be pulling the kinds of numbers that'd make it inherently more valuable to the suits than farking Batgirl.

it's a Berlanti production with a bigger budget than CW.  The production company is made of wizards (of accounting).
