On the bright side, if you trusted your money to an app/site/company called Tornado Cash, you're probably already under a guardianship and can't enter into contracts.

Proponents of crypto and privacy have criticized the Dutch agency's move, arguing that mainstream payments railroads have been used for far more laundering.

Why does this defense that you wouldn't accept from a 4 year old always get trotted out?

How cold does a cold wallet need to be? I can't decide if burying it in the yard with my gold is enough, or if it's better in the basement freezer.

A hardware wallet is always cold bec it signs transactions.  Its private keys never see the internet so it cant be hacked remotely.

Even if i gave u my Trezor hardware wallet and my 12 word seed phrase you still wouldnt get any coins bec u dont have the 13th word of my seedphrase.
That one exists only in my head. It is not written down or stored in my Trezor.

In search of less jail time, TornadoCash developer gives authorities keys to a backdoor/flaw in TornadoCash in 3...2...1...

In the meantime, hopefully the FBI/CIA is covertly guiding the creation of the next big alternative to TornadoCash. They they can quietly observe exactly who wants to go to all the trouble using it, and probably net several billions of dollars in proceeds of crime in the process. Win-win.

Until you buy stuff with the crypto. Then the seller needs at least some info so they can send the product. Then when you do some illegal stuff, the government will just check if any known wallets are related to your wallet and get a court order for the info.

NO. Such evil.people are going to THREATEN you and your loved ones with pain or much worse. A pulled fingernail or two, a crying family member, and you'll spill anywthing they want.

Its such an easy payday for the criminal, and no alarms are raised because you DON'T have to visit any banks and have awkward conversations with bank staff that will suspect something is going on when you want to strangely suddenly cash out your life savings. (Remember: bank machines have daily maximum withdrawal limits gor a good reason!)

Instead, the criminal keeps you and your family quietly at home until you give up.the hardware wallet and your complete seed phrase, which they can comfortably confirm works before they disappear . Nobody outside suspects anything is happening, and the criminal is assured nobody can undo the transaction that gave them your life savings.

What a ridiculously unsafe and moronic way to hold your wealth.

Works great.  Assuming that you never cash out (to money that can be traced, or videoed during an ATM transfer).  Or your transactions can be correlated to you.  Or somebody who you did business with squealed.  Or any number of ways you could "follow the money" even during the cash age.

Crypto: works in theory, has issues with reality.  See the classic "Applied Cryptography" by Bruce Schneier: Lots of cryptographic algorithms.  80%+ of them were broken before the book was published, 19% of them have since.  And the remaining 1% are in the "don't even think of using" category (and I guess one time pad is in there as well).

They didnt teach you that in world of warcraft ???

Kiddie?

So what happens when the criminal shows up with his five friends, genius?

Now you're telling me you're going to invest in security and self defense, along with weapons, whereas with the existing ways of banking none of that is necessary?

IDIOCY. You would be rolled over in ten seconds flat

Just exemplifying one of the key characters of crypto: it's immutable.

The definition is:  'unable to be mute, about crypto!'

But dont forget to mention that in order to get more clicks

How cold does a cold wallet need to be? I can't decide if burying it in the yard with my gold is enough, or if it's better in the basement freezer.

A hardware wallet is always cold bec it signs transactions.  Its private keys never see the internet so it cant be hacked remotely.

Even if i gave u my Trezor hardware wallet and my 12 word seed phrase you still wouldnt get any coins bec u dont have the 13th word of my seedphrase.
That one exists only in my head. It is not written down or stored in my Trezor.

But keep believing what u believe

I believe I can get the 13th word out of you by use of a smart contract written in Rust. Sorry, I meant to say a lead pipe.

What happens to your millions u have in a bank when they cap you??

Same difference

How will u spend those millions if you are dead??

Silly argument you

You don't get it!

You're "hardware wallet" is EXTREMELY insecure, easy to get your farking LIFE SAVINGS from you. Traditional banks have multiple layers of security and difficulty that make it much harder to get at your life savings.

On a similar note, if you pass away unexpectedly (unrelated to crime), traditional banks have all the tools to start the process of wealth transfer to whomever you have left your money to. But cyrpto? BWAHAHAHAHA

Why do you insist on making life EXTREMELY difficult for yourself? Why do you insist on adding a hundred unnecessary, error-prone, and dangerous steps to something that is ALREADY safe, secure, and convenient to use for many decades?

If you think other people will embrace adding a hundred unnecessary steps to wealth management to their daily lives, and risking their wealth to any little mistakes they make, you are incredibly naive.

Yes, very convenient. That's why I keep my crypto keys engraved on a stone tablet written in Sanskrit and the tablet is shoved up the anus of a dead body I found down the well so it's pretty chilled and out of sight. The future, ladies and gentlemen.

Fear the Clam: On the bright side, if you trusted your money to an app/site/company called Tornado Cash, you're probably already under a guardianship and can't enter into contracts.

Well, turns out the body down the well was actually a very alive homeless guy who is now at large with my crypto keys up his ass. Since this is the future of finance, I have no protection or insurance of any kind so wish me luck.

ChibiDebuHage: In search of less jail time, TornadoCash developer gives authorities keys to a backdoor/flaw in TornadoCash in 3...2...1...

In the meantime, hopefully the FBI/CIA is covertly guiding the creation of the next big alternative to TornadoCash. They they can quietly observe exactly who wants to go to all the trouble using it, and probably net several billions of dollars in proceeds of crime in the process. Win-win.

Oh but please Crypto Bros, do go on trusting software developed by random people whom you only know by names like SupremeGrizzly123
