I have watched several videos of making takoyaki. I have yet to try it, but the videos make it look like a great snack or meal. I don't think I would want to play a guitar with a gas burner heating a cast iron takoyaki pan right under the strings.

It's hard to describe how popular takoyaki is in Japan. I've seen portable takoyaki travel kits that you can take to parks, beaches, etc. Yes it's mostly a gas grill but has the attachments/parphanalia to make the balls. Takoyaki is a staple at Japanese restaurants (Izakaya) and at home. It's one of their most popular snack food.
