Two people were seriously hurt in the incident at a Legoland amusement park in Germany earlier today.
The collision happened after one train slammed the breaks on and another hurtled into it.

But I bet they ran on time.

For some reason, I thought this would be Legoland in Orlando, Florida.

The problem might be that I didn't read TFA but the headline both here and there say dozens were injured and the first sentence says two.

Unless it is one of those 'slow' trains.

Maybe if they'd slammed on the brakes?

Well, the old "walking on Lego bricks will fark you up" was used in the headline, so obviously you had no other choice than to go with the Hitler angle.
Comedy achieved, I guess?

I'm not even mad that this is your go-to. But I am a little offended that you have no idea how notoriously not on time the trains in Germany actually are these days.

Hmm. The MSNBC story talks about serious injuries, while the BBC report on the accident has this quote from the Bavarian red Cross:

"All told, the accident was quite mild," the organisation said in a statement.

Never use a preposition to end a sentence with.

Since TFA helpfully pictures a ride selected at random... this is the ride:
https://www.legoland.de/en/explore-legoland/the-park/rides-attractions/fire-dragon/
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hMONi5x599I

The collision happened after one train slammed the breaks on and another hurtled into it.
It took place in the station of the Fire Dragon attraction, an amusement park spokesperson told German media.

Since coaster trains don't like... have brakes, it should be pretty safe to assume they just mean that the 2nd train crashed into the parked one loading/unloading in the station.

Ride footage gives a pretty good hint that for that to happen, the brake run at the end of the coaster section failed completely. The zone control is presumably set to actually stop at that section if the station is occupied, but even if that messed up and only slowed the car, you can see how slow the normal entry speed is.

Alternatively, zone control might also hold the other car on the lift hill until the one in the station cleared out.

Either way, someone is going to have some splainin to do about the maintenance of that brake.

Crashing into another train is horrific enough for the moving car, but at least they have all of their safety harness stuff on. Imagine hanging halfway out of a car when suddenly it's plowed into? Not a good time...

They're soon up to 15, but the original in Billund is the one close to my heart because that's where I got my LEGO drivers license from.

It actually possible to fail the drivers license there, I did that once by cornering on two wheels, and as such it's more difficult to attain than a real one in Arkansas.

Though, dunno, maybe a LEGO license would be accepted in Arkansas?
