Meh...rent a mid sized arena at a second tier college in the area, sell tickets at half the Broadway price while cutting expenses by 90%.

well, I mean, yeah. But apparently they had visions of a stage show, or something like that.

Coulda been cool, but wasn't cool enough.

Nobody hates Weezer like a Weezer fan.

Not a fan, but that song is absolutely fantastic.

That whole album is a goddamn masterpiece. I loved Pinkerton, liked a couple of songs on the Green Album and Maladroit, but goddamn they got terrible quickly.

Wait. It's just a concert and not a show with some sort of narrative thread? I like Weezer and I've enjoyed them at festivals and their Pinkerton tour. They put on a great show. Not paying Broadway prices.

CSB:

Somebody broke into the car of the friend I used to get a ride home from a lot my senior year of high school, pilfering all of his CDs except for the one still in the player: Weezer's Blue album. In between intermittent radio listening, we must've played that album dozens of times over the months, and it never got old.

I love their music; I just wish they'd hire a grown-up to write the lyrics to it.

Save for In the Garage. That track's kind of a dog.

The rest of the album though ... Oh my god.

The standout IMHO:

I'm the weirdo here - just never really could get into Weezer - something annoys me there.  Readily acknowledge they're good at what they do objectively, but it just isn't for my ears

The real genius of the blue album.

Rivers ego could stand for him to remain. Even though river grew more as an artist over time.

But, now, roughly one month, before the residency was supposed to begin, the band is no longer moving forward with the Broadway shows, as Exclaim! and BrooklynVegan point out.

Does the write get paid by the comma?

Someone needs a copy editor - and possibly an introduction to the magic of the em dash

w/o going deep into my boba fides & CSB's, I was there, backstage at Universal Amphitheatre, when Gene Simmons let them know how he felt about that song name checked his band yet extolled Ace & Peter while leaving out him & Paul...

I generally at least give a quick overview listen to whatever they put out, and holy shiat those new SZNZ albums are just awful so far. A Weezer Broadway show might actually amuse me, but not one based on that shiat.

Simmons should have recognized that Ace and Peters names are more lyrical, but it's understandable that he didn't.

As I've been saying for damn near 15 years now.. Weezer's problem is that it's fan base matured and they did not.

CSB:

Back in I think '95 or '96 saw Weezer at the 9:30 Club in Washington, D.C.  After the show, we hung around and they came out upstairs and talked and asked if we had any parties to go.  We were down from Baltimore, and it was a Sunday iirc, so we didn't.  Then, Rivers left us to talk to an Asian girl.
