Happens. I've seen R-rated films where excessive f-bombs (usually actor ad-libs) are edited out.
Not every director wants their dialogue to sound like Rob Zombie wrote it.

The only time it works better is when Sigorney Weaver sees the crushers in Galaxy Quest and screams "forget that!" but her lips never even come close to saying "forget." That actually makes it funnier.

This is one of those movies that, if you stop and think about it, is so farkin' ridiculous that it defies comprehension. "Oh, so my husband/boyfriend (don't remember which) fell to his farkin' death and you, my best friend, thinks that the only way to get me to get back to living is to risk my farkin' neck doing the same thing (more or less) that killed my farkin' husband/boyfriend. Seriously, this is the stupidest idea I have ever read about a movie character's motivation for doing something insanely farkin' stupid.

I had a hard time playing the game Crackdown, due to all the very tall buildings the character had to scale. I'm not so afraid of heights (I've been to the top of the Eiffel and the Empire State Building), I just don't like the sensation of possibly falling. I could never go up in a hot air balloon.

That was intentional.

Dean Parisot got the order from Jeffrey Katzenberg (remember, this was Dreamworks) that they were going to market it as a more accessible family film, i.e. it was going to be PG instead of PG-13. This meant editing out all instances of Tony Shalhoub's character smoking a joint, so that he came across as being naturally spacey instead of being a pothead, which was the original design for the character. It also meant losing the F-bomb. In protest, Dean didn't even bother to hide the dub. He cut to a close up because he wanted to ensure that everybody in the audience could clearly read her lips.

Don't worry - things will go all Mad Max well before it becomes too big of an issue.

Do theaters really enforce the age restrictions? When I was a teen, it was treated like serving beer in Ireland. If you could see over the counter, it was fair game.  Then again, I was the weird kid going to see indie and foreign flicks.

I had a couple of friends who got carded at R rated movies; the rest of us laughed, so the ticket seller felt bad and carded everyone. Now everything's kiosk, doubt they care that much.

Got turned away from seeing 'Animal House' when I was 16.  Ended up going to see 'Breaking Away', which I only knew of from the review on Sneak Previews.  Discovered a really good movie.

I've seen that movie a few times and I've somehow never caught that David Fincher was involved....
