Fun random useless fact:

The lead singer of Filter is Richard Patrick. His brother is Robert Patrick. The T-1000, Agent Doggett, etc.

Everclear announced that they were dropping out via Instagram, citing "[in]adequate means to provide the level of experience our fans expect and deserve while attending an Everclear show."

Translation: No one bought tickets.

According to TFA, the promoters changed the venue a week before the show and suddenly added Sugar Ray as a "co-headliner."

These bands have been around long enough to know when a promoter doesn't know what they're doing and will probably try to get out of paying them.

Who?

I'd see Filter again.  I've seen them 3 times on 3 different tours.

Wow. That is an absolutely terrible line up.

I had a dorm roommate (random assignment) whose favorite band was everclear. Like....favorite band ever. He had bootlegs and shiat.

Somehow not the strangest thing about the guy.

Isn't that every Everclear show?

More Soul Asylum is a win here.

The fact the promoter had the balls to put Sugar Ray at the top of the promotional poster should tell you everything you need to know how much they understood the 90s at all.

No because they are offering refunds and announced they were going to play a proper venue. I follow a ton of 90's bands on social media and all of the bands in this line up were hearing complaints and announcing either cancellations or "evaluating" their position as of yesterday.

They are expecting the festival to take place in a small metro park with inadequate parking and not even an amphitheater.

Given the spotlight recently about Woodstock 99, it doesn't surprise me that they look at this and pull out.

It wasn't easy for him to be a scared white boy living in a black neighborhood...

/his daddy gave him a name, and then he walked away...

Saw Candlebox open for Metallica in '94. Suicidal Tendencies were there too. It was a kickass show.

I saw them open for Rush in the early 90's as well.

It was Metallica, Suicidal Tendencies and Danzig when I saw that tour in 94.

Ragin' Asian:

When I goto certain shows these days I expect a very crowd.

For an everclear show venue should not hold more than 800 people including staff.

So that the people who do show up are fans and tickets master probably isn't involved.

stoli n coke:

Having been in promotions

If you cannot sell whatever % of tickets 32 days before you cancel the show and pay the penalty to the band, or move it to a smaller venue if the contract allows.

If there's an issue with the venue a week before you cancel, then you get the lawyers involved and keep communicating with the artists management.

Or you do this shiat, and pray to satan the new headliner can bring in enough tickets sales to allow you to pay everything off. ( Which never happens. )

You obviously have.

I like Filter.

It's kind of an inside joke with my wife that anytime a Filter song comes on I'm obligated to say, "It's the liquid metal terminator's brother!"

For the life of me I couldn't remember the name of a Candlebox album that I really loved.  I went to wikipedia and couldn't find it.  Turns out it was the Gin Blossoms.  Third album.

They did a free zoom concert of AARP last year too.  In case you needed a reminder of how old you're getting.

Everclear played in my friend's living room for a house party in Portland in 1993ish... If I remember correctly, most of the band worked in the coffee shop we hung out in. They were nice. The music was ok. Whatever.

I know exactly one original Filter song, but it's a pretty damn good one: "Thanks, Bro", from the surprisingly excellent Songs in the Key of X: Music From and Inspired By the X-Files compilation album.

(I've also heard their cover of Three Dog Night's "One". It's not bad.)

Why is Cracker at the bottom tier of the poster? They're easily the best band on the lineup. The promoter sounds like some marketing clown who doesn't know music.

I saw Cracker open for Wild Cherry and Average White Band in 1992 because the early 90s still didn't make sense to anyone just yet.

Came here to say exactly this.  Cracker is farking awesome.  As is Sponge, who I saw on the ROAR Tour way back in the day (Stone Pony, Asbury Park NJ).  They were so so good live.

Cracker should headline, but most people don't think they know cracker.

Trust me...you probably know at least five songs Cracker.

Everyone should know Another Song About The Rain.
