Having no appropriate comment to make, let me just say that there was never a good time to buy the Broncos. I mean, obviously they really sucked way back in the day, but they became perennial disappointments and suddenly blew up into a big deal. I guess the the early 80s was the perfect time to buy, but risky. You lost a lot of your Orange Crush players that took the Brockos to the SuperBowl in 78 or whatever. Lyle Alzado, Tom Jackson, and Randy Gradishar. Floyd Little was long gone by then.

So you had to buy it and get your O line together. Then you needed a good quarterback. Then your full back and running back crew. And because of the altitude, you could not just go and buy talent off the shelf. You had to develop your guys. It was a long slog.

I don't know what Bowlen's legacy is. Elway's legacy is spotty, etc. But you do have to give it to Bowlen/Elway for sticking with it and making them a perennial contender. Who knows what the future will bring?

Mr. Scorpion needed the funds. The east coast isn't gonna seize itself, you know.

Don't call him Mr. Scorpion. It's Mr. Scorpio, but don't call him that either! Call him Hank!
