I refuse to believe anyone actually eats at Applebees.

Tiger Woods did enjoy Perkins.

IHOP does an ok omelette, and I do like their hash browns.

The cars are leased and they're one paycheck away from bankruptcy. But they look so very rich.

I always enjoy seeing expensive luxury cars in the Wal-Mart parking lot. And I've noticed over the years as I go to appointments Mercedes and BMWs are the cars most often seen in psychiatrists parking lot.

I had 4 IHOPs, but after pandemic I'm left with one that's hard to get to.

IHOP (at least the one I went to) makes a great BLT

There are no more BMW's and Mercedes in those lots than there were before.

my past few experiences with IHOP have been terrible.  They are not cheap anymore either. I now always choose a different restaurant when on the road.

They said you are what you eat.
They said eat the rich.
By the transitive property we are all IHOP and Applebee's.

Unlikely tag wasn't available?

Why is it funny that someone with a nice car would shop where the prices are cheap? Not throwing away money needlessly is one of the things that can help you afford nice things. A 24 pack of Charmin toilet paper is the same whether you get it at Walmart or The Fresh Market. Plus, one trip to Walmart might be a time saver as opposed to driving to four separate smaller businesses.

You can get a fairly good Idea of which car makes are popular with the truly rich by looking at the median credit scores of new car buyers.   Benz buyers have lower credit scores than people who buy Fords.

Eh, the Merc has some social cachet attached, and hopefully has better performance, features, etc. A tank of propane or a bundle of Charmin from Walmart is no different from the same stuff bought at higher prices elsewhere.

You would be incorrect about that as a blanket statement. My wife and I are car people. I bought a 911 Turbo S because the car is awesome and fun to drive. We couldn't give a rat's ass about "appearance".

I don't understand why people who can afford nice things are somehow required to only shop at overpriced luxury stores.  You can drive a nice car, and shop at Wal-Mart.  You can drive a shiatbox, and get your watches from Rolex.

You can drive a shiatbox and shop at Wal-Mart, and still have enough money to buy the entire Wal-Mart location, and all of its inventory, keep staff on salary for at least a year, and burn it all to the ground.

Word. I grew up poor. Resented it. Drove shiatboxes until I was 31 - repaired them all myself. Once I started making a little money, I managed to purchase every car I wanted to own... and then some. Now, 22 years later, I got my dream car - a 2022 Porsche 911 Turbo S. Custom build. Currently sitting in Emden Port in Germany waiting for a boat to get it here. Like you, I will drive it in to the ground, as I absolutely LOVE the car.
