Finally, we'll get the "TRUE PRESIDENT TRUMP DECLARES MARTIAL LAW! THE STORM IS HERE! All Patriots click for information on how report your liberal neighbors to be sent to Omelet Camp!"

and then when you click:

Not going to go with one of the classics, like goatse or tubgirl? Maybe change the message to have all patriots sign up for the new Lemon Party?

I feel like it should definitely be their job to make sure that their warning system that they have complete control over is maybe... idk... secure?

So you get a false alarm about a ballistic missile attack once in a while.
Makes you feel ALIVE!
What're you going to do if it's for real anyway, duck and cover.
Hahahahahah.

This is why we can't have nice alerts.

I was more concerned about the "There is nothing wrong with your television set" then that annoying cut the middle of your favorite song clashing sine wave noise.

EAS has always been very low security.   If you know how the system works, it's pretty easy to insert the appropriate credentials at the beginning of the chain and cause a cascade of panic.    The thing is all predicated on the endpoints themselves being secure, which they aren't necessarily.

if you know what you're doing, a person could cause all kinds of havoc with EAS systems.

/also considering many TV and radio stations barely have any IT security to begin with, and broadcast engineers are lazy and will throw SAGE boxes with default passwords on the network, I'm amazed crazy alerts don't happen more often

So what you're saying is I have until winter to bang together something to scrape my favorite weather and surf forecasting tools then wire into the gigantic San Francisco air raid siren network and get personalized announcements broadcast citywide when Mavericks is firing?
