I was lucky enough to have been at Jerrys last 6 shows, it should have been 7 shows but the farking gatecrashers at Deer Creek ruined that for us, and I had 3rd row center for 7/3/95, DAMN!

This is also the day I got 12 mail order tickets for the 6 night stand closing the Boston Gardens... would have been my first show with my sister, an East Coast deadhead.

Made these after Deer creek 7/2/95

And dream me a dream of my own
I will walk alone by the black muddy river
And sing me a song of my own
And sing me a song of my own

If you're not counting backup vocals on Box Of Rain.  I like to think that his last words on stage were "Such a long long time to be gone.  And a short time to be there," sung in harmony with his friends.

Okay, full disclosure, I'm not a Dead fan. I respect the hell out of them as musicians, and can listen for short stints, but on the whole, not my thing.

I wasn't planning on commenting, but, Jesus, what is with that outfit? Trying to match horizontal earth-tone stripes with vertical jewel-tone stripes, yikes. How much acid did he drop?

Nice, "Scarlet Begonias" is a favorite of mine. Unfortunately never got to hear it at a live show.

Dude was great.  They should have hung it up when he went.  I got dragged to a Dead and Company show about 6 months ago.  Longest 4 hours of my life.  I was waiting for Bob Weir just to fall over, I wasn't overly sure he was alive and they were just Weekend and Bernie'ing him.

The scene at Dead shows was so shiat by 95 I thought they would call it myself. I actually thought, "fark, but at least that shiat's over". I was wrong.

Enough.

The band was a catalyst to so many great changes in my life. Deadheads were as much a part of my transformation as anyone in the band. I pulled so much from the experience that it has muted my grief at it's absence. It was too top heavy to continue. We can have something nice but we don't get anything forever.

Pretty sure we have been at some shows together... Deer Creek was the Midwest Mecca, and sadly one of the worst display of group consciousness I have ever witnessed. Fark 7/2/95 !!

It's too bad, because the WEB releases of the shows sound absolutely killer. Wish we had early shows with that level of recording.

They played some good shows in Seattle in '93 or '94 even after riots over fake tickets nearly shut everything down. I'm glad I saw them live once, but I didn't feel like going again when they came back the next year.

When the Dead stopped touring is when really good acid stopped being available.

I am not a deadhead, but I like some of their stuff. But I'll never forget the scene when he died. I was on the Ocean City (NJ) boardwalk and all the stoners and surfers (venn diagram is almost completely overlapping) were crying and supporting each other. It was odd. The Surf Mall sold a lot of Dead shirts that day.

I remember going to my local QFC that day. They had a big sign over the Ben & Jerry ice cream section. "We are out of Cherry Garcia. Don't even ask!"
