(ESPN)   Good news, NFL fans. The League has heard your complaints and is excited to announce that you'll get to see offenses bailed out of third-and-long situations by ticky-tack illegal contact penalties at a much higher rate this season   (espn.com) divider line

Which game will have the first third-and-long which the receiver is alone and wide open, still finds the pass overthrown, and DPI is still called on the 1?

The Cowboys should end up with 30 penalties a game now.  Yikes.

Not like that is a bad thing.... ;)

I'd say it'll be in one of the games that benefits either the Bills, the Chiefs, or the Bucs.

/possibly a Browns vs Jets game to see which team becomes themselves the most
//if they even play against each other this year
///too lazy to look :P

Aaron Rodgers is now teaching his newbie WR the dark arts of the back shoulder/DPI/Illegal Contact route as we speak.

When you allow accountants to handle day-to-day sports operations, you get nitwits who are more worried about the bottom line than the actual product.

Want to know who's going to win the game?

Whichever team makes the bookies the most money.

And this will help seal the deal...

They don't have to win. They just have to cover.

5 yard penalty, replay the down. But that makes sense.

Peter von Nostrand: 5 yard penalty, replay the down. But that makes sense.

The NFL is having a "buy 5 yards get 10 free sale" this season.

In 2014, flags illegal for illegal contact rose to 148 from 52 in 2013.

Ah yes, the leaguewide moral panic over the LOB. I remember it well.

FTFA: It is a 5-yard penalty and results in an automatic first down.

The NFL has too many automatic first down penalties.

You think the owners would do anything else when the bookies ask for more ... opportunities for the refs to make the games go the right way?  The rules committee might be stupid, but there are other bringing a lot of money who might want to see plenty of more flags and and more uncontestable "no call" situations.

Raiders laugh at just 30 penalties and say "Hold my handle of Jack Daniels and watch THIS"

Not during a game that benefits the Bucs. Not first. But last? Yea, I can totally see it.

Because when it will first happen to benefit Brady and the Bucs, it will be during a game we'll talk about for DECADES. So, with that in mind, it has to be during the playoffs, in a game that sends the Bucs to the SB.

Or during the SB, just before Brady ends his career. For the symmetry of it. Y' know, ending on a controversy that'll be talked about for 20 years?

You've read it here first.

/bonus points if it happens in a SB against the Raiders.

Why you gotta blame the accountants? They just tell you how much money you made, it's the MBA's that decide how to make it.
