The other day he was quoted as saying, "I hit my home runs in bunches, just like I get my donuts."

He dropped his hat.  Does the run count if he's not in full uniform?

Baseball needs more characters. Like this big guy.

Watching him run flat out yesterday was pretty amusing. I love how he has to slow for each corner so momentum doesn't carry him past the base.

Wouldn't want to get in his way as a catcher either, considering he's 6'0, 280lbs.

On deck guy should have been gesticulating wildly to turn on the jets as if the outfielder had just let loose a flaming meteor towards home and his very life depended on scoring that run.

If you like Vogelbach's running, you should check out Alejandro Kirk with the Blue Jays

Kirk runs surprisingly well for a big guy.

I remember back in the day watching Jim Kelly scramble and it looked like he was trying so hard, but he was barely moving compared to the linebackers chasing after him.  I'd be like "Slide, Jim!  You're gonna get killed!"

He does get those stubby legs moving.

Reminds me of watching highlights on TSN back in the day and hearing "Lined to left centre field and Big Daddy Cecil Fielder scores all the way from third!"

Catcher be like "noooo, don't throw it over here, just let him have this one"

Too bad there wasn't a Slip N Slide at the end of that run. Something about his running style reminds me of this old meme:

He was an All Star in 2019. Part of that was being on a shiatty Mariners team that needed a token All Star. But he was arguably a deserving one, hitting .238/.375/.505 at the break. And then came the second half of the season, when he hit .162/.286/.341, which of course is not going to cut it for a no-defense guy (and would barely even cut it for, say, a slick-fielding shortstop). He never made it back and was DFA'd in 2020. He's had short spurts of competence since then, but overall is basically a league-average bat who can barely play the field and can't run, which makes him about replacement-level overall.

Runs faster than I do.

In high school, I looked like Reddy Kilowatt but without all that awkward muscle and yet I was slower afoot than that guy. In an intramural baseball game I hit it into the outfield and my teammates screamed at me to run. All I could think to say was, "This IS running."

Almost thrown out at first.

By poetry, do you mean Vogon poetry or Shakespeare's sonnets?

Shades of Brian LaHair with the Cubs back in like 2013-2014 or so. Career minor leaguer who had a stellar first half of the season which he parlayed into being the token All-Star for a terrible Cubs team. Fell off the face of the planet after the ASB.

Not saying that we had high hopes for Vogelbach back in 2015 or so, but he was one of those players who you think could be good until he reveals himself as being a AAAA* player.

/* an All-Star in AAA, but can't cut it in the Majors
