I say we should strike Taiwan first, just to show the Chinese how it's done.

THAT'S how you do it, farkheads.

Yep. Pelosi cost them a great deal of face. Their blog/Twitter scene is uncharacteristically embarrassed and angry with the Party. So of course the Party throws another tantrum. It's what they do.

"[The government] only chants slogans loudly while greatly disappointing the public with its actual actions," one person wrote on Sina Weibo, China's equivalent of Twitter.

For reference, there had been loud calls for China to shoot Pelosi's plane down.

The world is going to have a major problem over the next century, dealing with the consequences of China's society-wide fascist militarization of a billion and a half people.

They will miss the American Century

I keep telling people that, and they keep wondering why a stranger is talking to them at the grocery store.

2022 Russia: griefing neighboring countries because GDP less than Texas

We're at the point of human history where WMDs exist, but because of natural escalation and mutually assured destruction, we've gone back to like 1880s warfare.

"Maybe that bomb killed our target maybe it didn't...but WE'RE FOR SURE BEING A NUSCIANCE RIGHT?!"

Taiwan will be invaded, it is just a matter of time. However, things like TSMC are "wired for sound", and will be useless. China will get millions of pissed off people who will either resist, or just do the bare minimum and try to exit to first world countries.

Taiwan will not buy into the bullshiat the the CCP is trying to sell.

Taiwan will be China's Afghanistan.

Ideally, China will be boycotted, isolated, and eventually go back to being an agrarian society.

Taiwan is worth a great deal more to the PRC as it is than it would be as a territory.
What idiot wants to trade a prosperous, self-sufficient neighbor for a few million hungry mouths to feed?
Especially if that neighbor can be used as a foil in one's own internal politics.
Get real.

Yeah, I just do see them doing now. Especially after seeing how much it strengthens NATO and EU after Russia started it. Not to mention China needs computer chips and the ROC is just going to blow that shiat the fark up once they land as burned earth policy.

We need to get chip making going in other countries as fast as we can. I know the US is working on it, but Europe and India need to step up too.

Well now blue MAGA can drum up a new proxy war if they need to throw money at their defense industry buddies if needed. Bonus: Biden can be a wartime pres!

I kid you guys not, but I have an interview for an economic assistant position at the Taiwanese embassy in Tel Aviv on Friday. On top of that, I am currently working at the only maritime think tank in the country (I live in Israel), and I am now doing a project predicting what India would do if Taiwan is invaded. If the Chinese try to take over Taiwan before the interview and project are finished, I will be pissed on many different levels than I would have just a few months ago.

Taiwan is an ideological threat to the CCP, as it is proof that the Chinese people are entirely capable of governing themselves effectively, and don't need the likes of totalitarian control to achieve prosperity.

Yep. They'll openly say as much through their mouthpieces.

"I'm not sure if it's good to have freedom or not, I'm really confused now. If there is too much freedom, like the way Hong Kong is today, it is very chaotic; Taiwan is also chaotic. I'm gradually beginning to feel that we Chinese need to be controlled." - Jackie Chan

Taiwan is an ideological threat to the CCP, as it is proof that the Chinese people are entirely capable of governing themselves effectively, and don't need the likes of totalitarian control to achieve prosperity.

Additionally, there is the concept of 'Face' at the center of mainland Chinese society, and Xi losing face would undermine his authority. Ever wonder why the CCP overreacts in response to anybody anywhere publicly voicing any criticism, no matter how minor, at China? Face is why.

Know your enemy.

China wants Taiwan under its thumb but it's not going to use military force to make it happen. It's literally a worthless island if they have to bomb it into submission and endure economic sanctions against the mainland for taking it by force while also having Taiwan itself lose its special trade statuses.

Beyond that they would have a massive insurgency that would take decades of very bloody occupation to fully put down.

The only way China gets what it wants is a peaceful reunification, and Russia has already proven how effective exploiting voters using social media can be. Right now China is just saber rattleing because trying to intimidate and stir up the western forces is more beneficial to their long term goals than flipping the island.

i really hope you guys are right but there was a lot of people talking about how hong kong was gonna be fine. Of course china wouldn't try to kill the golden goose and yet now look at where we are.

Remember that China relies A LOT on foreign oil. When China finally does invade Taiwan, we'll shut down the straight of Malacca and they will have about 90 days of oil available. They will either have to win, sue for peace, or shutdown power to their industries to keep their ships fuelled.

That is when WWIII becomes a concern.

I don't think shutting down the Straight of Malacca will be nearly as big of a problem as you think. Who do you think Russia is selling to? They were already importing most of their oil from Russia before the war in Ukraine.
