Sounds like no loss.

I don't understand why if a movie is 90%+ complete or completed a studio wouldn't just wrap it up and release it on their already existing streaming service.  The additional cost at that point would be trivial.  A theatrical release I can understand because that has a good potential to lose a lot more money.

You look at Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman - these are brands that are known everywhere in the world.

Reminds me of prior of the B vs S premiere and they didn't care if the "daring" new
"interpretations" of the characters seemed more than a bit off. As long as it put Chinese butts
in the seats, who cared about anal retentive stateside nerds?

So after the great purge, we should expect more of the same in a slightly new coat.

The lesson from the Mouse they keep missing is that Marvel had to make do with their C list characters,
and with love nurturing and plenty of sunlight and water, the misfit toys became A list.

I am not overly fired up about the Shazam/Black Adam IP, but, I am far less interested in seeing another reimaging of their "big three".

/anyway, they can only do more darker and nihilistic versions of Batman cuz that's all they know.

What they should do is stop trying to copy and/or purposely not copy Marvel and just make a bunch of Elseworlds movies

Because they feel they're getting more out of it by taking a tax write off.

Scoob! was and Elseworlds movie. It certainly didn't happen in the main Scoobyverse, the Mystery Inc.verse, the Zombie Islandiverse, the Mystery Beginsiverse, or even the SDMovieDuologyverse.

It's almost like they just keep recycling these characters and radically changing them with each incarnation until they reach a point where they barely resemble the original versions and have become parodies of that original series, which itself was a parody of several other things.

Oh... you're talking about DC movies. Well, that's just all the same isn't it? At this point, the DC movies are coming off as parodies, too. I mean, what the hell could they POSSIBLY do to improve on the totally-not-about-the-DC-Comics-Joker movie Joker ? I mean, it was a good movie, though it had nothing to do with The Joker. It told the whole story about Arthur's troubles and his fall into madness. Story done. So what do they do? Make a sequel with Lady Gaga and give it a pretentious title like Joker: Folie à Deux. Oh, that's not a title that sounds like it enjoys the smell of its own farts... nooooo...

Where was I? Oh yeah, DC movies. They're going to release The Trash... Oops! I meant The Flash despite the title character's actor being a massive audience deterrent due to his being a violent, sexual assaulting, child-raping, egomaniacal assface. Warner Bros., as usual, doesn't know their ass from a banana tree. This is nothing new. Witness:

Recoup cost on investment, post production for movies that are special effects heavy is going to eat up a lot of costs and you also save on whatever the advertising budget was. Especially if you weren't planning on a theatrical release and so determined that the potential subscriber growth or maintaining the current one is worth less that the potential loss.

I get it but at the same time I'm thinking that if they don't see HBOMax as a good investment for properties why I should either as a viewer.

Yep. Key to updating characters is to use the C-listers. Nobody worth talking to cares what race or gender Hourman is. But every time you change one thing about Superman or Batman people will go ballistic. They will be Bruce Wayne and Clark Kent FOREVER. And we know what they look like. Marvel was able to create Miles Morales, which was astonishing, but due spectacular writing, the audience gives him an amazing amount of love.
Stan Lee, who probably stole it from someone else, said "every character is somebody'sfavorite, write them that way." And it's true. All the powers and costumes are ridiculous but if you write them like you love them the audience will believe.
That's how Timm and Dini managed to win our hateful fickle hearts with Justice League, where they pulled ALL the c-listers and made them people we could all care about, even if some of them weren't fully comics accurate, they distilled down the nature of most of them.

I've been assured that the new WB is a god among men for cancelling woke movies such as Batgirl, because go woke go broke am I right ?

So far I've heard f-@ll from the same ones about the cancellation of the Scooby Doo movie, as if that didn't fit their narrative

The message for filmmakiing talent everywhere in the industry seems to be: do NOT work for Warner Brothers.

Ah, but he's standing by The Flash so crime-commiting creatives have a home at least.
