I don't watch reality shows. There's nothing "real" about them and they were produced only because they're cheap to make. So I never saw The Apprentice, and didn't know much about Trump when he entered the political scene. Maybe his core supporters are all reality show junkies.

In 2015, I decided Trump was a buffoon.
In 2016, I decided Trump was a corrupt asshole.
In 2017, I decided Trump was someone with a head full of bad wiring.

All the information was out there for people to see IN THE MEDIA, and make the right decision, but if you create your own propaganda network for your audience, it's useless.

They all know that the messages they're peddling don't hold up to any scrutiny. Why invite scrutiny? They have direct channels to the assholes those messages are meant for.

If this new strategy works in the actual elections we are screwed as a country. So screwed.

Well, if the Lame Stream Media would just cut it out with all that 'fact checking' and 'asking unscripted questions' maybe the GOP would show up, but all these 'gotcha' moments where some talking head dares to question their Lords and Masters, or calling their answers 'lies and damned lies' it all makes for TV that is just boring. The truth is boring, Sheeple.

it would be cool if the media started accurately reporting on republican activities and policies instead of presenting them without commentary as if the 4th estate didn't have a farkin' job to do instead of making nice with theocrats for soundbites.

My dad is weird: he's a dyed in the wool Republican, but he's been watching less and less news over the last 7 years. A part of me thinks it's because he's, as a so-called 'fIscAl cOnsErvAtIve' is feeling some cognitive dissonance over how bat shiat republicans have become under Trump, and it's lead to some interesting blind spots where he doesn't know what Q-anon is, and he thinks the election was stolen, but he respects Biden's office and is glad the insurrectionists are getting persecuted.

I love that man, but... His whole "that president is illegitimate, but I gotta respect the office," is up there with "Obama is a Kenyan... and that's great because it shows how far we've come as a country," as far as the most baffling political takes I've ever heard.

In fairness, our media is universally shiat. And much like everything, it's all capitalism's fault.

Even 'good' media sources are incentivized to create sensationalism over clarity, and any worthwhile information is gated behind paywalls.

"The risk of submitting yourself to what the campaign would consider to be risky questioning - the possibility that you might end up saying something that winds up in $10 million worth of ads from the other side - it's like the benefit of doing the interview does not outweigh the risk," he said. Perfect example is media coverage of Elon Musk. I have yet to ever see a single piece by any of the large audience (CNN, NBC, NY Times, WaPo, etc.) that ever questioned or reported on anything close to any number of his cons. Yet independents like ThunderFoot & Common Sense Skeptic on Youtube will cover the absolute stupidity of his con jobs like the Vegas tunnel. Yet what coverage there was, so called journalists pretending to be excited over a pile of dog *#&@. Have any of them covered the absolute fraud that is FULL SELF DRIVING (which it never will be, and thousands of morons have paid out $10k for something they will never get). But slobbering over that so called real life Tony Stark gets clicks and eyeballs, so god help them should they report truth. THAT is the media of today.

So yeah, f**k them all. CNN, MSNBC, HuffPo, WaPo, NY Times, etc.., the sad reality is they do not report the truth, they report on what they feel will get the most audience. F**k em.

Like, these motherfarkers tried to reinvent Hatsune Mimi, but worse, and run an article about how she has a whole 500,000 youtube followers... Like, it's just transparently an ad for Zuckerberg's failing vanity project, lol

That's a possible 2.1 million people who should have no adult decisions whatsoever.  They are too stupid for society to risk their input.

I guarantee you that almost all of them ar ...

Possibly, but my opinion of humanity is so low that I would't be surprised in the slightest if every single one was a real person.

Yeah, Republicans suck.  But don't act like our media deserves a ton of respect. Their wounds are self-inflicted.

F**k em.

On a similar vein, I love how absolutely uncritical coverage of the Metaverse has been.

"She has ambitions to perform in the real world"!!!!

You know, if that actually happens I'll gladly read about it as a major breaking news item. Until then... it's a farking marketing account run by some media team.

aaronx: They all know that the messages they're peddling don't hold up to any scrutiny. Why invite scrutiny? They have direct channels to the assholes those messages are meant for.

If this new strategy works in the actual elections we are screwed as a country. So screwed.

The MSM is all tricksy with their "journalistic standards" and "fact checking."

I was open minded (but skeptical) about FSD but my skepticism was confirmed after a few incidents indicated that maybe it wasn't as perfect as Elon claimed (the white trailer truck incident, the diverging roads incidents and the Colorado back road incident)

It's always funny how they pretend the Metaverse is innovating anything.

Like, this is what a concert looks like in Fortnite:
Travis Scott and Fortnite Present: Astronomical (Full Event Video)
Youtube wYeFAlVC8qU
And meanwhile, here's a concert in Metaverse lol

As a Gen Xer, my bullshiat detector is finely tuned. I can thank Reagan for being marketed to from the moment I could set eyes on the TV. I distinctly remember when news and info-tainment didn't overlap into this weird Venn diagram of news/noise/sell. It always gets my hackles up. Every time. I hate snail mail that looks like a bill but it's actually junk mail for the same reason  because that shiat is predatory. There should be protections against it.

It's already feasible. Quite a lot of pop music is already written pretty much by algorithm, and those cool 3d stage screens can make vitrual avatars perform "live". All you'd need is a booking and a crowd.

Karma Chameleon: MattytheMouse: MattytheMouse: My dad is weird: he's a dyed in the wool Republican, but he's been watching less and less news over the last 7 years.

My dad does bizarre shiat like this too. He's 80 and I think for most of his life a straight ticket Dem voter, but since he's retired all he does is watch news all day. So he thinks I'm living in a city that's constantly being burned down by antifa extremists. Oh and the homeless somehow have more rights than he does.

I feel like we need PSAs that explain to people that unless you're the president or maybe at some military nuke Weeners command*... YOU DON'T NEED NEWS 24/7, TURN IT OFF YOU ARE NOT THAT farkING IMPORTANT!

*They don't need it either.
