The airfield at CUBI Point PI would shut down every evening while hundreds of these flying foxes would do there eneing migration from their caves to the food sources. It was like the flying monkey scene from Oz.

I've never seen one of those huge ones, but the little fruit bats that slept in my hedges in South Carolina looked like kittens with wings.

There is a reason they are called flying foxes

So same idea, and they are day feeders

BS.  They are about one foot long.  The photograph makes it seem larger than it is.  At one foot long they are still huge, but not five foot long huge.  Their wingspans are about 5.5 feet which is really impressive.

So you're admitting that they have a measurement on their body that's five feet, but call BS that the thing is five feet.

That's what a size measurement of flying creatures refers to -- their wingspan.

A 5 foot tall bat would be like a flying kangaroo which would be a little ridiculous.

There's a colony of fruit bats a couple of blocks from me. I walk past them in the morning as they wake up and start flapping around. They are a pungent group of critters.
