"Durham was born Judith Mavis Cock..."

Should've kept her birth name. "I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing" was probably my first ear worm.

She had a beautiful voice. Seemed to be a beautiful person as well.

She is one of the musicians that I've had the privilege of meeting and having a short discussion.  I meet her after she had her stroke and she lost the ability to read music.  I suspect she had a fear that she also lost her vocal precision and was very hesitant to sing even privately, let alone in public.

If they gave me a fortune
My pleasure would be small
I could lose it all tomorrow
And never mind at all

But if I should lose your love, dear
I don't know what I'd do
For I know I'd never find
Another you

Mrs Coast has always made me think of that song, and vice versa.

She will be given an Australian state funeral. Her body will be thrown to a pack of dingos while AC/DC plays.

Dear Jerk: Georgie Girl (and Downtown) are the first songs I remember hearing on the radio.

When I hear those two songs reminds me of when I was a young young lad, I remember at a Santa Claus parade some Band was playing Georgie Girl, that one thought of the the parade has stayed with me for over 50 yrs.

/csb, chased after Santas float with other kids at end of parade, first time on tv.  end csb

Growing up, my parents owned maybe a dozen albums in total, most of which were Christmas albums, Johnny Mathis or Doris Day. But for some reason, they owned a 45 of Georgy Girl. I used to play the hell out of that thing, at first because it meant putting the plastic 45 adaptor over the LP spindle, but I grew to love that song. It sounded so much more modern than the other options, even though it was a decade old or more by the time I discovered it. Looking at their discography, I think we also had I'll Never Find Another You, unless there was a 70s re-release with both songs on one 45.

RIP, Aussie singer-songwriter lady. We'll never find another you.

Overall, she had a great life. A few problems, but she reached the point where our big complaint is our fonleslabs don't have replacement batteries.

Kylie Minogue is a bigger star.
But then, Kylie showcased her bum in her shows and videos.
To be fair though, it is a very nice bum.

RIP Judith. I'm certain I'll never find another you.

In their heyday they were a bigger act then the Beatles.

'Judith Durham, like Karen Carpenter and Eva Cassidy, possesses the purest voice in popular music.  When she recorded one of my songs I was so flattered and love her version.  She made the song her own - a very enviable talent.'                   Sir Elton John CBE

My daughter used to work in a cosmetics store in Camberwell (Melbourne), and apparently she served Judith Durham one day, maybe ten years ago. She said she was very sweet and also very grateful for her assistance, but she had no idea who she was until her coworker told her. She then asked who Judith Durham was and the coworker said "ask your parents".

That was "The New Seekers" that recorded that song.

She was not a part of that group.
