If i was Cain, I would see about pleading temporary insanity.  Of course if this does see trial he's getting acquitted anyway, i don't see any jury convicting jhim based on alleged crimes of his intended target

The only charge listed in the article for this man is lewd  act upon a child.

Based on recent local cases of this nature where even a plea deal involves a lifetime of registry, I am of the belief that, in a situation like this, there is no way in hell an innocent man is going to plead down.  An innocent man is going to go bankrupt to clear his name.
