Well isn't hating immigrants and cruelty to the disabled just expected from the GOP? It isn't news, it isn't Fark, and Minnesota isn't even a real place

I think you'll find that she is quite familiar with it, and that is why she is trying to limit their right to vote.

Isn't that the argument that people give for why minors shouldn't be able to vote? That they're just too stupid and naive and trustworthy and they'd be taken advantage of?

Sorry, I meant trusting, not trustworthy.

Maybe I'm remembering incorrectly, but I'm pretty sure the Constitution says everyone who lives in the US can vote, and it's worded in such a way that implies they don't have to be citizens.

2022-08-05 8:26:38 PM
Democrats: Everyone should be able to vote easily.
Republicans: Only certain desirable people should be allowed to vote under very particular circumstances.

Voters: Gee, who should I vote for?

Where's that Cyanide and Happiness piss comic.

In 2019, while working at a right-wing think tank, she threatened to sue Minnesota over a resettlement program that brought Somali refugees to the state.
"I think of America, the great assimilator, as a rubber band, but with this - we're at the breaking point," Crockett said, according to The New York Times. "These aren't people coming from Norway, let's put it that way. These people are very visible."

At the May state GOP convention, Crockett also played an antisemitic video that portrayed Minnesota Secretary of State Steve Simon (D), who is Jewish, as a puppet of George Soros, the Jewish billionaire who contributes to numerous liberal-leaning campaigns, organizations and causes.

1. choose the correct sentence:

a. i would of voted if there hadn't been filthy immigrants at the voting center.

b. i would have voted if there hadn't been filthy immigrants at the voting center.

I don't see how she could insist on that without preventing her base from voting; in my experience, people who complain loudest that everyone should speak English are the worst at speaking it.

As far as she's concerned it's already gone. This is their goal. Back to the America of 1855 or so.

Funny how they ALL always have the same talking points, use the same phrases, and all try to achieve the same disenfranchisement of voters.

It's almost as if they all have the same writer for all their bullshiat, just like online how you go to most places and it's straight copy/paste with a variation of 4-5 different exact replies.

That didn't stop the KKKers for 100 years.

This time around they're going to have to be a little more subtle than poll taxes or literacy tests (and definitely more subtle than straight-up racist terrorism) this time, but the corrupted SCOTUS has already completely destroyed the voting rights act, so there's not much I'd put past them to do in the name of White Gilead.

Old school (from the "good old days" when conservatives were more articulate and respectable:

"Why the South Must Prevail"
--William F. Buckley

"The axiom on which many of the arguments supporting the original version of the Civil Rights bill were based was Universal Suffrage. Everyone in America is entitled to the vote, period. No right is prior to that, no obligation subordinate to it ; from this premise all else proceeds.

That, of course, is demagogy. Twenty-year-olds do not generally have the vote, and it is not seriously argued that the difference between 20 and 21-yearolds is the difference between slavery and freedom. The residents of the District of Columbia do not vote: and the population of D.C. increases by geometric proportion. Millions who have the vote do not care to exercise it; millions who have it do not know how to exercise it and do not care to learn. The great majority of the Negroes of the South who do not vote do not care to vote, and would not know for what to vote if they could. Overwhelming numbers of White people in the South do not vote. Universal suffrage is not the beginning of wisdom or the beginning of freedom. Reasonable limitations upon the vote are not exclusively the recommendation of tyrants or oligarchists (was Jefferson either?). The problem in the South is not how to get the vote for the Negro, but how to equip the Negro--and a great many Whites--to cast an enlightened and responsible vote."

We have Republican gubernatorial and Lt. governor candidates running on lowering gas prices. Oops, too bad gas is plummeting already.

I resemble that remark. The cities up north formed around the smoking craters the miners created.

Here's my backyard as a kid. It's filled with water now so it's not smoldering.

Most of them think it already *is* a smoking crater.

"Oh, you're from the cities? How, uh...is it down there?  I heard things were...pretty bad? They still burning stuff down every night? "
