I'm sure this is just crazy talk, but it almost seems like they started low with the easiest ones and are working their way up to harsher and harsher prosecutions.

Nah, that can't be it. I have been repeatedly assured that no action is being taken.

Amnesty International can go fark themselves.  They think imprisoned IRA members were political prisoners.

Yep, that's exactly what they did, and it's exactly what they told us they were doing over and over and over and over again, but this is Fark, and that info was only in the article, not in the headline, so many Farkers never read it.

A mere handful of years for trying to overthrow the US government.

There are people who've been imprisoned for that long for accidentally voting wrong.

There are people who have languished in jails for years just waiting for a court date, not having been convicted of anything yet.

Yep. An eight year sentence in the feds means seven years, four months actual custody.

I was watching the insurrectionist storming the building and asked my wife: "why is there not machine gun fire coming FROM the inside out?"
.
EVERYONE in the D.C. region knew this was going to happen and yet the police were unprepared?  I am still shocked by what I saw that day.

I was hoping for a yell of "Fix bayonets!" from the Capital police, and then for them to just shoot anyone who got to the door.

They could have investigated themselves and found no wrongdoing.

I recently got Facebook and all of the suggested groups and news in my feed are native wildflowers, birds, and canoes.  The only "crazy" stuff I get is fishing (makes sense I guess with the nature/water connection), but all of that is gone after a few ignores.  From this experience I can firmly say that the algorithms can almost perfectly peer into the users soul to understand their deepest desires, and anyone who gets shiatlord content is deep down inside already a shiatlord.

And yet people still don't want to abolish the police.

THE POLICE LET PEOPLE STORM THE CAPITOL BUILDING, ATTEMPTING TO OVERTHROW THE GOVERNMENT AND MURDER MEMBERS OF CONGRESS. THEY NEITHER KILLED NOR ARRESTED THEM.

Explain why we should keep them.

2022-08-05 9:06:22 PM
An eight-year prison sentence would be the longest among hundreds of Capitol riot cases. The lengthiest so far is seven years and three months for Guy Reffitt, a Texas man who attacked the Capitol while armed with a holstered handgun.

Needs a higher profile.

Wait. I'm wrong. It's 54 days a year "good time" on sentences longer than one year, hence and unrelated, the plethora of federal pleas that are for a year and a day. So. This guy gets 54 × 8 off the top and loses it for various, serious, infractions along the way, which for the majority of prisoners never happens, so six years, eight months.

I had friended my mom's side of the family and some friends from high school. Turns out they were all fascists so my page started getting littered with shiat they interacted with. By the time I knew what was going on I couldn't stop the flood of insanity no matter how many people I defriended so I deleted my Facebook account.

Good luck.

I think that's my secret, I don't have any friends.  This means my feed is essentially curated by moderators of the various groups that don't allow posts outside the scope of the group.

You know what's hilarious about that sentiment? Cheetolini isn't in the business of handing out free pardons. He'll only give 'em out to people that will actually PAY him, literally, 99% of these dipshiats haven't got a pot to piss on.

Six cops died as a result of January 6th.  Where are the life sentences? Why are the dems silent on Clearance and Ginny Thomas's funding, organizing, and participation in the terrorist attack?  Ginny admitted it on video FFS.

Not just cash, also for general pandering purposes - like with Kodak Black.

But what's more likely is he will announce a blanket pardon in his speeches, but not bother with that paperwork, tying up the courts and the DOJ to figure out if it counts or not.
