As a native Angeleno, I have to say that Ralph's is a rather unfortunate name for a place that sells food.

The guy drove one hour thinking he had a the cops in pursuit when they weren't anymore. I think drugs were involved.

Seems like best case scenario. Suspect attested, no dangerous chase, car recovered, no one got hurt.

I'm impressed that they actually called off pursuit to reduce risk to the public. This was an ideal outcome.

Ontario's Police Services Act has a regulation on police pursuits that requires officers to weigh the severity of the crime - the need to catch the suspect - against the risk to public safety.

Around here, if it's not a stolen car and they run the plates, they'll just let you go.

And then a couple hours later you get a knock on your door...
